Job Purpose:

The post holder will be responsible for coordinating and implementing Alert’s projects and events in Beirut, South Lebanon and the Bekaa. She/he will coordinate project activities and undertake all logistical preparations required for the implementation of projects. The post holder will lead on several dialogue-based awareness raising sessions held in the selected areas in order to integrate conflict sensitivity and social stability objectives in the health sector. In addition, the post holder will maintain and consolidate Alert’s relations with partners and local stakeholders, authorities and influential people. The post also includes support in research and focus groups conducted in the selected areas. Under the supervision of the Senior Programmes Officer she/he will work closely with the Design, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Officer, who will provide content-based support and supervision.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Project Coordination

Responsible for mainstreaming social stability objectives in Alert’s partner activities and monitoring the implementation of dialogue based awareness raising sessions by Alerts’ standards and the developed M&E tools;

Work closely with project partner and local actors in the three selected areas in order to ensure proper coordination for some outreach activities;

Support in research and focus group efforts and collection of quantitative/ qualitative data;

Maintain positive relationships and regularly update relevant authorities and local actors;

Assist in the logistical preparations required to conduct advocacy events

Stay abreast with socio-political developments in the Beirut, South Lebanon, Bekaa and Lebanon generally;

Document Alert’s activities for communication purposes;

Take the lead on all required logistical preparations for the different activities.

 

Project design, monitoring and evaluation

Collect and capture relevant information discussed during the dialogue-based awareness raising sessions and other community and outreach activities;

Identify risks, challenges and extract lessons learned  based on the close interaction with grassroots people;

Support on feeding in the monitoring and evaluation tools;

Represent Alert in related social events;

Report to The Senior Programme Officer and will work closely with the Senior Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Officer based in Beirut.

 

Contributing to Alert’s organisational processes and strategies

Represent Alert’s values and ideas and be a spokesperson for the organisation at relevant conferences, seminars and other meetings;

Any other task relevant to the position.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • BA or equivalent in social and political sciences, human rights, or other relevant disciplines
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience working with a local or/and international NGO, including significant experience working at field level.
  • Good knowledge of Lebanese politics and understanding of the political and social context of Beirut, Bekaa and South Lebanon
  • Fluent in Arabic and English, excellent communication skills in Arabic are a must
  • Able to influence and motivate others by making their case
  • Demonstrates the ability to take the initiative
  • Understands or has the ability to understand quickly Alert’s approach to peacebuilding
  • Gets on well with people of diverse backgrounds and in diverse roles
  • Is computer literate and numerate
  • Excellent inter-personal, communication and presentation skills
  • Skills and experience in projects implementation, monitoring, and evaluation
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of programme cycle management, information management and reporting
  • Strong analytical skills and interested in knowing more about M&E

SUMMARY TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Annual Salary: Competitive annual salary based on our salary scale for Lebanese nationals

Benefits: Private Medical insurance and NSSF

Leave entitlement: 25 working days per year (pro rata) plus Lebanon statutory holidays.

Notice period: There will be an initial 1 month probationary period during which notice will be 15 days on either side. On successful completion of the probationary period notice will be one month.

Working hours: Full time staff are expected to work a standard 40 hours per week, a maximum of 48 hours per week, with some flexibility around start and finish times to be agreed with the line manager. All staff are required to work core hours 10am – 4pm.
