Video Editor for Social Media Campaign (Remotely)

Institute for War & Peace Reporting (IWPR) is an independent not-for-profit organization that works with media and civil society to promote positive change in conflict zones, closed societies, and countries in transition around the world. Under the projects entitled WEPS are funded by the Department of State.

 

IWPR works with Syrian women and reporters to increase the participation of Syrian women, youth and marginalized groups in public and political life as positive change agents and promoters of a multi-ethnic, multi-religious society that respects the rights of all people

 

IWPR is requesting to hire a Video Editor for Social Media Campaign – Remotely; for the upcoming 7 months, this period can be renewed if deemed necessary, for IWPR- Lebanon.

 

 

 

                                      

Scope of work:

  • Prepare a schedule of work with IWPR’s Senior Media Specialist based in London, UK
  • Implement IWPR’s branding policy
  • Manipulate and edit video pieces in a way that is invisible to the audience
  • Trim footage segments and put together the sequence of the short videos
  • Input music, dialogues, graphics and effects
  • Create rough and final cuts
  • Ensure logical sequencing and smooth running
  • Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and industry’s best practices to maximize efficiency
  • Add the translated subtitles to the videos

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications:

  • A degree in media, journalism, or similar
  • At least three (3) years of progressively advanced video editing experience
  • Strong theoretical and practical background in video editing
  • Solid experience with digital technology and editing software packages (e.g. Avid

     Media Composer, Lightworks, Premiere, After Effects and Final Cut)

  • Demonstrable video editing ability with a strong portfolio
  • Creative mind and storytelling skills
  • Proficiency in Arabic
  • Working experience in development or humanitarian environment is desirable
  • Proven familiarity with the work of Syria and having excellent understanding of the conflict issues and community security is a huge asset
