In the first quarter of 2017, Hivos and three other organisations will start a new project on women, peace and security in Syria. The project will work with women and men at the local level on peace and security issues directly affecting their lives. Links will be built with initiatives at the international level as well. Our mission is to contribute to a Syria in which women are politically and socially empowered, holding substantial leadership roles in the peace process and in key economic and social sectors. For this project, Hivos has the following vacancy:
 
Project Officer “Women Peace and Security” in Lebanon
20 hours per week; duty station Beirut
 What is your responsibility?

Implementation of the project as described in the approved project proposal
Management of the relationship (including contracts and reporting obligations) with selected partners and other stakeholders in the project including internal administrative requirements
Organisation and implementation of Hivos interventions in Lebanon within the context of this project.
Preparation of draft narrative and financial reports on the project for the financier and other internal and external stakeholders;
Representation of the project in Lebanon and contribute to external communication about the project.

All aforementioned responsibilities are implemented in close cooperation with the project manager of the “Syrian Women's Participation in Peace and Security: The way forward” based at Hivos in The Hague.
You are answerable to the programme director Middle East and North Africa at Hivos in The Hague.
What is your profile?
You have a university degree in Middle East Studies, Gender and Women’s Studies or another relevant discipline. You have proven experience with projects related to political and societal developments in the MENA region. You have a proven experience and a track record with topics related women, peace and security or women’s rights. Finally, we expect you to have good communication and social interaction skills both verbally and in writing in English and in Arabic.

-        excellent communication and social interaction skills both verbally and in writing in English and in Arabic
-        affinity with project management and financial administration

Employment is offered as soon as possible for the period of one year with possible extension for a longer period. Your salary will depend on experience. Travel cost are compensated in accordance with Hivos Regulations. We offer participation in the pension fund
