In early 2016, Hivos started the five-year Women Empowered for Leadership programme, a new programme on women’s political participation and leadership development in two regions, i.e. Southern Africa and the Middle East. In the Middle East the programme is implemented Jordan and Lebanon, focusing on women’s leadership development in politics (at sub-national levels) and public administration targeting semi-public institutions and large non-governmental organisations.
Your responsibilities

Implementation of the project in the programme countries Lebanon and Jordan, with an emphasis on Jordan.
Identification and selection of partners (individuals and organisations) to be involved in the programme
Management of the relationship (including contracts and reporting obligations) with selected partners and other stakeholders in the programme in Jordan.
Organisation and implementation of Hivos interventions within the context of this programme in Jordan.
Registration of contacts, contracts and interventions in Hivos project administration.
Preparation of draft narrative and financial reports on the programme for the financier and other internal and external stakeholders;
Representation of the project in the MENA region and contribution to external communication about the project.

All aforementioned responsibilities are implemented in close cooperation with the project manager of the “Women Empowered for Leadership” based in The Hague and with your colleague Project Officer “Women Empowered for Leadership” in Lebanon.
You are answerable to the programme director Middle East and North Africa at Hivos in The Hague.
Your profile
You have a university degree in Political Science, Gender and Women’s Studies or another relevant discipline for a women’s rights and empowerment programme. You have proven experience with projects related to political and societal developments in the MENA region in general and Jordan in particular. You are well organised, independent, decisive and energetic. You have an entrepreneurial spirit and working attitude, affinity with project management and financial administration. Finally, we expect you to have good communication and social interaction skills both verbally and in writing in English and in Arabic.

Employment is offered as soon as possible for the period of one year with possible extension for a longer period. Salary depends on your experience, expertise and track record. Travel costs are compensated in accordance with Hivos Regulations We offer participation in the pension fund.
