HEKS/EPER Swiss Church Aid is the aid organisation of the Protestant Churches of Switzerland and has its headquarters in Zurich/Switzerland. HEKS/EPER works towards a more humane and more equitable world, assisting people and communities to overcome economic, social or humanitarian disparities in order to gain autonomy and to live with dignity both in Switzerland and abroad. Therefore, HEKS/EPER engages in development cooperation, humanitarian aid and church cooperation. HEKS/EPER has its own coordination offices in presently 16 key countries and around 200 projects world-wide.

1 Description of the intervention
HEKS/EPER has been providing humanitarian assistance through its local partner Najdeh in Lebanon through unconditional cash and cash for work interventions since 2013 as a response to the Syrian Crisis. These interventions have been taking place in the two Palestinian Camps Shatila and Borj el Borajne.
The overall goal of the cash for work interventions have been to increase the resilience of the refugee families from Syria and host families in these two camps. With the main outcomes:

BACKGROUND:

HEKS/EPER is a Swiss INGO founded in 1946 and based in Zurich. HEKS/EPER is supporting local partner organizations with around 200 projects in 34 key countries worldwide. HEKS/EPER builds on strong partnerships with local NGOs active in the field of development cooperation and humanitarian aid. In Lebanon, HEKS/EPER has been supporting local NGOs since the 1970s to address the needs of both the most vulnerable Lebanese and refugee communities.
