Community Liaison Officer – TOULA (Part – Time)

OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:
Collect and analyze data on socio economic impact and inform communities on HI’s demining operations
Reporting to:
Operations Coordinator
REPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibility 1: Collect and analyze data on socio-economic impact of HI’s demining operations
Aim: To assess the socio-economic impact of HI’s demining operations
Benchmarks: owner’s interviews are done; questionnaries are fulfilled; data are reported to the excel sheets; data analysis is done
Activities:
- Take appointment with all minefields’ owners;
- Visit all minefields owners and carry out pre and post impact interviews based on the information shared by the Head of Mission and/or the Chief of Operations;
- Integrate data in the specific Excel files;
- Coordinate with HI Operatiobns Coordinator on progress advancement, difficulties…
- Take pictures of used former minefields when possible and relevant;
Responsibility 2: Inform the commmunities about HI’s demining operations
Aim: To provide the communities with information about HI’s demining operations
Benchmarks: communities are aware of the ongoing demining operations; regular meetings with municipalities
Activities:
- Visit heads of municipalities or villages representatives when HI operations are deployed in a new area to inform them about the nature of HI’s work and collect qualitative information;
- Participate to the organization of the project’s Public Relations events
Responsibility 3: Conduct a survey about the touristic exploitation of the Cedars Natural Reserve of Niha-Tannourine-Hadath EL Jebbeh
Aim: To assess the socio-economic impact of HI’s demining operations in the reserve
Benchmarks: the heads of municipalities are met; information related to tourstic exploitation project is collected; potential interested actors are involved; a feasibility study is conducted; a socio-economic impact survey report is produced
Activities:
- Visit heads of municipalities of Niha, Hadath El Jebbeh and Tannourine to collect information about a touristic exploitation project
- Meet the potential actors interested to the touristic exploitation
- Conduct a short feasibility study of the touristic exploitation project
- Assess the socio-economic impact of the touristic project
- Produce a socio-economic impact survey report
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE will have:
- FLuency in Arabic and English (French a plus)
- Good organization skills
- Good oral ,written communication skills
- Proficient in all computer skills; Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet
- Good negotiation skills
- Good capacity in team work
- Adaptability
Education and experience:
- Bachelors degree in Economy, Tourism or environment
- Previous experience in tourism or eco-tourism
