GVC is an Italian NGO founded in 1971. Actually is working in 22 countries worldwide. GVC presence in Lebanon dates back to the begin of Syrian Crisis and since then GVC has been implementing emergency and development projects in Bekaa financed by International Donors mainly in WASH sector.

GVC is actually recruiting personnel to cover the position of 1 Proof Reader and Arabic Translator to support activities in Bekaa.

Position Title:                   Proof Reader and Arabic Translator

Reporting to:                        CPA Specialist

Duty station:                        Zahle office

Salary grade:                         G6/L3

Responsible for:

• Translation from English to Arabic of project documents (Protection Response Plans, Community Profiles, etc…)
• Proof-reading of project documents to check contents and details

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The CPA is a methodology which comprises a context-specific process of multi-sectorial assessment and right-based analysis to determine immediate patterns of risks and analyze the degree of the population’s resilience against such risks. Throughout this, local protection strategies are elaborated and designed to increase the capacities and empower the communities and individuals, reduce exposure to harm and develop local strategies to increase protection from the impeded access to safe and dignified life.

• Translate documents from English into Arabic and vice versa, as needed by the project team;
• Adapt the translation to different recipients;
• Proof-read documents and presentations in English and Arabic;
• Editing documents (reports, surveys, etc.) both in Arabic and English;
• Update documents based on comments and decisions made in meetings;
• Under the guidance of the technical team, prepare drafts of documents, presentations, teaching and learning materials and reports;
• To follow up and update terminologies in Arabic and English;
• Assist with other tasks to support the project work when necessary;
• Assure proactively the consistency of the terminology upon validation and guidance by the dedicated staff of the Protection Task Force.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Master Degree in languages, preferably with professional qualification from a recognized school (including interpretation and editing)
• At least 3 years of previous experience in translation
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Word and Excel
• Previous work in NGOs will be an asset

EMPLOYEMENT CONDITIONS

• Contract duration: 10 months part-time with possibility to renew;
• Required Starting Date: ASAP
• Duty Station: Zahle
