GVC is an Italian NGO founded in 1971 and is currently working in 22 countries worldwide. GVC presence in Lebanon dates back to the start of the Syrian Crisis and since then GVC has been implementing emergency and development projects in Bekaa financed by International Donors mainly in Emergency Response.

GVC is actually recruiting personnel to cover the position of Field Monitor to support activities in Bekaa

Position Title:                   Field Monitor

Duty station:                          Al Ain with daily travel to project areas in GVC AoI

OBJECTIVES:

The activities of GVC in the north of the Bekaa are mainly focused on Emergency Response (WASH and Shelter) and implementation of the Community Protection Approach (CPA). The CPA is a methodology which comprises a context-specific process of multi-sectorial assessment and right-based analysis to determine immediate patterns of risks and analyze the degree of the population’s resilience against such risks.

In this context GVC is recruiting Field Monitor to conduct assessment and data collection, to identify needs and information that could lead to the preparation of referrals and to implement Emergency Response, WASH and Shelter intervention such as distribution and awareness sessions.

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The field monitor will be responsible to conduct field assessments through collective interviews, FGD, HH visits and any other data collection tool provided by GVC.
  • The field monitor will be responsible for the good and correct collection of data using ODK methods. S/He will be responsible to timely submit the information collected during the day.
  • The field monitor is responsible to collect information related to Emergency cases such as fire, flooding, eviction, new arrival in a timely manner.
  • The field monitor will be responsible, during field distribution activities (items distributed: Shelter kits, WASH supplies, NFI, etc.) for the provision of materials to the designated beneficiary and for the collection of handovers;
  • The field monitor will be responsible, during field activities, to explain to the beneficiaries through awareness session key concepts related to WASH good practices and to any other relevant topic;
  • On a pre-agreed schedule and exceptionally when emergency cases are happening in the area, if it is needed, the field monitor should be available to work during the weekends and public holidays, in respect with the Lebanese Labor Law. She/He will be responsible of the correct implementation of assessments and emergency distribution;
  • The field monitor will be responsible for the collection of water samples;
  • The field monitor will support the implementation of community activities designed through the CPA process, especially for field assessments;
  • The field monitor will be responsible to liaise with the refugee landlords, community leaders and beneficiary to collect information, solve disputes in case there will be the need and report to the line manager any problem that s/he may face on the field.
  • The field monitor is outreach GVC representatives at all times and s/he will be responsible for representing GVC appropriately to the community.
  • The field monitor is responsible for preparing accurate and timely reports of their individual activities to the supervisor. In particular, this includes maintaining signed records of the engagement and activities with the community.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technical background.
  • At least 2 years of previous proven experience in the implementation of WASH, Shelter or other technical activities
  • Good level of proficiency in the use of MS Excel and MS Word
  • Previous work in NGOs will be an asset
  • Valid driving licence

PERSONAL AND INTER-PERSONAL SKILLS

  • Native Arabic and fluency in written and spoken English
  • Good communication skills (with beneficiaries and communities)
  • Understanding of and commitment to humanitarian principles and values
  • Highly organised and able to work respecting deadlines
  • Ability to work in team
  • Being flexible and with the ability to adjust to changes and new requirements
  • Deep knowledge of Bekaa environment would be considered an asset

EMPLOYEMENT CONDITIONS

  • Contract duration: 8 months full-time with possibility to renew depending on funding with 3 months’ probation period;
  • Required Starting Date: ASAP
  • Duty Station: Based in Al Ain (GVC office) with daily field activities in target areas in Bekaa, including Masharia Al-Qaa.
