GVC presence in Lebanon dates back to the begin of Syrian Crisis and since then GVC has been implementing emergency and development projects in Bekaa and Akkar, financed by International Donors mainly in WASH sector.
GVC is actually recruiting personnel to cover the position of Engineer to support activities in Akkar
Position Title: Engineer
Reporting to: Project Manager and Project Coordinator
Duty station: Kobayat office (Akkar) with travel to project areas
Salary grade & level: According to GVC Salary Scale ($1,700 - $1,870)
Project Framework: SCALE - Social Cohesion through Accessible Learning Environments (funded by AICS)
GENERAL OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION
Under the line management of Project Manager and Project Coordinator, the position title is responsible for
The Engineer will be responsible to follow up and ensure quality of the rehabilitation works of schools in Akkar. The engineer will liaise with contractors daily, approve quality of material and provide daily updates against work plan as well as weekly and monthly reports. The engineer will be the responsible to ensure that activities in the school are undertaken in a safe and proper way and attention to quality detail is given.

RESPONSIBILITIES & OBJECTIVES
- Supervision of the progress of construction works conducted by the Contractor;
- Guarantee smooth implementation of construction activities between the Contractors, headmaster requests and the different suppliers;
- Guarantee that all the technical documentation is properly filled, updated and classified;
- Guarantee that the rehabilitation is following MEHE specifications;
- Develop a certain degree of autonomy in managing issues related to the daily implementation of the activities;
- Report to and discuss with the Project Manager and Project Coordinator any technical issues which may have a direct impact on the general implementation of the project and the organisation’s activities in the area;
- Contribute to plan, organize and implement technical activities in the field;
- Supervise on scheduled basis the implementation of technical activities through field visits and ensure that all activities are performed on schedule and in accordance with the work plan;
- Prepare activities report on a regular basis as required;
- Contribute to identify new projects in the sector, assess and prepare technical documentation for project proposal;
- Participate in coordination meeting held in the GVC Offices;
- Any other task not here listed and necessary to the projects and activities;
- The engineer is a GVC representative, and at all times is responsible for representing GVC appropriately to the community.
REPORTING
- Prepare daily updates by email;
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports;
- Support in the preparation of work plans and progress reports;
- Timely report all results gather from the analysis
QUALIFICATION/ REQUIREMENTS
Educational Background:
- Degree in Hydraulic, Civil or Environmental Engineering
- Master degree is desirable
Languages:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and English and Arabic. Knowledge of French is an asset
Driving license:
- Driving license is a must.
Personal qualities & soft skills:
- Familiarity with Lebanese construction sector and standards;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and English and Arabic. Knowledge of French is an asset;
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office and email. Knowledge of MS-Project or similar is an asset;
- Knowledge of the Health and Safety regulations in the Workplace;
- Good track record of managing and leading a team;
- High level of self- initiative, autonomy and problem solving skills;
- Ability to be pro-active with tasks and duties, foreseeing challenges and delays;
- Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure, prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines;
- Ability to negotiate and assist in the resolution of disputes/conflict;
- Experience in conducting surveys, managing and analysing data and statistics;
- Willing to work in the field as per need of the project activities including occasional overnight stays away from home base;

- Basic Salary: According to GVC salary grid
