Background:

The McKinsey plan for Lebanon was finally published to the general public, a plan under the name of “Economic Vision for Lebanon” of more than 1200 pages that presents possible solutions to several sectors and to the overall Lebanese economy.

Unfortunately several years has passed without having a socio economic plan or vision for Lebanon, even when CEDRE conference was conducted no clear socio – economic vision was driving the proposals that were collected and presented in CEDRE (CIP).

As a social democratic foundation, FES is interested in supporting the efforts that may lead towards a new endorsed economic plan that takes into consideration the wellbeing of the Lebanese economy as well as the labors rights and that the vision behind the plan is based on the principle of social justice.

Therefore, FES is looking for a company or individuals that can draft and present an overall review of the Mackinsey plan and propose relevant alternative solutions so the concerned Lebanese stakeholders can make use of it in their lobbying and advocacy efforts.

Specific Objectives of the study:

  1. To conduct a summary on the main aspects of the McKinsey plan
  2. To present an assessment of the plan from a socio- democratic approach (did the plan take into consideration a sustainable economic growth? are social policies taken into consideration? did it mention the labors rights? did it reflect the principles of a welfare State? did it include measures to combat poverty? did it provide protection against the challenges that life throws at citizens? Etc.)
  3. To identify key main points of demands for political and civil society organizations and possible solutions for the raised problems
  4. To present the findings in a meeting with the relevant stakeholders
  5. To present the findings in a national conference

Timeframe of the study:

3 weeks starting from the signature of the contract
