Call for Resumes – Lebanon Industry Value Chain Development Program
Development Alternatives, Inc. (DAI), a global consulting firm based in the United States (www.dai.com), is seeking project staff for the new Lebanon Industry Value Chain Development (LIVCD) Program, a five year activity funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented under the leadership of DAI.  The LIVCD Project aims to increase the competitiveness of selected value chains, expand the number of Micro and Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) that can compete in selected markets, improve linkages between those firms and other actors throughout the value chain, increase the gross value of products and services in local and export markets, and expand exports.  Activities will take place in the North, South, and Bekaa regions with the main LIVCD office located in Beirut and potentially three regional field offices.
Candidates with managerial and technical experience in the following areas are encouraged to apply:
 

Value Chain Development – Requirements: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience with an emphasis on value chain or sub-sector development including value chain analysis and overseeing upgrading strategies to improve productivity and promote market development; broad experience in production, aggregation, storage, transportation, wholesaling, sorting, packing, processing, retailing, and export market development in key agricultural value chains;  in-depth professional experience in agricultural or industrial value chains such as apples, dairy, vegetables, rural tourism, manufacturing, consumer goods, or  IT required; demonstrated experience working in the private sector is preferred.

 

Agricultural Production/Innovation – Requirements: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in agronomy/agricultural production in key agricultural value chains, including experience in agricultural extension and inputs, IPM, post-harvest handling and storage, GlobalGAP and other standards; demonstrated experience in capacity building for smallholder farmers, organizations, associations,  agribusinesses, or local implementing partners in agricultural innovation and ensuring best practices dissemination/adoption.

 

Industrial Production/Innovation – Requirements: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in industry or business working on manufacturing, production, supply chain management, sourcing raw materials, sales, marketing, domestic and export distribution, and capacity building for small scale producers in consumer goods, IT, rural tourism, or other relevant industries.

 

Export Marketing/Trade Linkages– Requirements: Minimum of 5years of professional experience in forging market linkages, including experience in transportation, storage, packaging, or food safety standards; and experience forging commercial linkages in markets to agribusinesses and industrial enterprises.

 

Access to Financial Services/Business Development Services– Requirements: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in banking, lending, financial analysis, or credit assessment, preferably a history of funding MSMEs; experience providing support services to businesses that improve performance, access to markets, and competitiveness such as training, consultancy, marketing information, and technology.

 

Monitoring and Evaluation/Environmental Compliance– Requirements: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience monitoring and evaluating projects, including developing baseline surveys, creating indicators, and conducting impact assessments; experience completing environmental screening of activities to identify potential negative impacts and providing mitigation and monitoring plans, and knowledge of Lebanese environmental regulations.

 

NGO/Association/Private Sector Capacity Building - Requirements: Minimum of 5 years of experience in organizational development, NGO management and oversight, or other related technical background; experience providing technical assistance and mentoring to NGOs, businesses, or associations to improve internal organizational weaknesses and service delivery; demonstrated knowledge of USAID standards of accountability, administration, financial transparency, and reporting.

 

Gender and Youth Project Development – Requirements: Minimum of 5 years of designing program strategies and leading interventions to integrate gender/youth engagement opportunities into donor-funded programs; experience in agricultural or industrial development, workforce training, or enterprise development programs is preferred.

 

Finance/Grants/Operations/Procurement/IT Managers - Requirements: At least 5 years relevant work experience in financial management, administration, accounting, grants, operations, and IT systems on USAID-funded programs; demonstrated understanding of USAID rules and regulations.

 
Basic Qualifications Required:

Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree in related field is preferred.
Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills in English and Arabic. 
Experience working with international donors; USAID experience preferred for some operational

and administrative positions.

Ability to work collaboratively within a team and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced

  environment.

Lebanese citizen.
