We offer a post of Project Assistant (Interim worker). Under this post, the recruited person will be attributed functions depending on the needs of the Delegation. Upon recruitment, the successful candidate will occupy a specific job function as Project Assistant – this job function may be changed in accordance with the needs of the Delegation. Under this job function the successful candidate will serve as technical and support staff to support the Development Section of the EU Delegation to Syria in the definition and implementation of the EU-funded non-humanitarian assistance. At the time of writing, the portfolio to be covered is expected to include support in the sectors of civil society, social cohesion, human rights, and of transitional justice; and cross-cutting issues that might emerge such as potentially supporting the preparation of the IVth Brussels Conference on Syria.

Under the supervision and responsibility of the Head of Development &Cooperation Section, the selected candidate will provide:

  • Support to Project Cycle Management
  • Support to Monitoring & Evaluation of programmes/projects
  • Support to Coordination and Outreach
  • Support to External Communication and visibility
  • Support to Information Management

Multicultural working environment, working week is Mon-Fri 37.5h per week.

At least three (3) years of experience in managing humanitarian or development assistance in a developing country is essential. This includes experience in the formulation and implementation of programmes / projects.

The following will be considered an asset:

  1. Previous experiences of at least two (2) years working in a field office of a EU MS development / implementing agency, or EU Delegation, or UN agency, or international NGO (or a combination thereof).
  2. Previous experience of at least two (2) years working in any of the following sectors should be highlighted in the application: civil society, social cohesion, human rights, and of transitional justice.
  3. Previous experience with remote monitoring tools.
  4. Experience in managing EU-funded programmes / projects, including familiarity with EC procurement and contracting procedures should also be highlighted in the application.
