ECHO Syria is seeking to recruit ONE National Staff for the following position: Programme Assistant Reference: PA 2020-01

The candidate needs to demonstrate the following criteria:
- Minimum Five years of relevant experience at national or international level in supporting programme/project operations, preferable including at least two years of experience with an NGO's, donor or national/international organization;
- Ability to travel on regular project monitoring visits or to respond to an emergency in an unsecure setting, when needed
- Ability and willingness to work in a multi-cultural environment
- Proficiency in Arabic and English and ability to communicate and draft reports in both languages;
- Good knowledge of any other European languages is an asset
- Proficiency in Computer application (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook)
- Good knowledge of Programme Cycle Management (PCM) or experience in project management
- Ability to work in the field with implementing partners and to communicate with beneficiaries.
- Ability to work under pressure, autonomy, initiative, and to set-up priorities.
- Extensive knowledge and professional experience in Syria is an asset.
- Must be a Syrian national or hold a valid residence/work permit or other proof that he/she is eligible to live and work in Syria.

As a part of a small but dynamic team, the Assistant will carry out activities such as:
- Situation analysis and assessments related to humanitarian and disaster risk reduction issues
- Analysis of DG ECHO-partners’ project proposals
- Monitoring, evaluation and coordination of ECHO-funded projects
- Reporting and programme administration
- Assisting in all programme related activities of DG ECHO
- Liaising with partners in an advisory capacity, local authority and institutions
- Actively participate in meetings
