About the job 

The protection officer (PSS) has the overall responsibility to ensure that quality psychosocial support activities are delivered to children, adolescents and caregivers in a timely and efficient manner with technical guidance from the protection team leader & specialist. ​

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

• Provide technical guidance, on the job training, coaching and mentoring to the PSS team on child protection and GBV minimum standards, principles of psychosocial support, PSS toolkits, approaches and curricula for caregivers, adolescents and children. 

• Ensure that all spaces where activities are implemented meet interagency standards for safe spaces whether mobile or static 

• Observe PSS activities (community based and focused) at least two days a week and provide technical guidance on facilitation skills, child protection, GBV, PSS key messages and communication skills while monitoring the quality of the implementation of activities against international standards and Inter-agency or internal standards  

• Monitor the progress of project targets against indicators on a weekly and monthly basis. 

• Contribute to the overall protection monthly report underlining protection issues, related trends and figures in coordination with the Protection team leader. 

• Supervise the establishment of dialogue tables and conformation of community based groups according to DRC guidelines 

• Support the development and implementation of the community based group work plans and initiatives 

• Provide trainings on SGBV prevention and response, SIR, LGBTI, protection mainstreaming and PWSN to internal and external. ​

About you 

To be successful in this role we expect you to have a Bachelor/Degree in Social work, Counseling, psychology or other related field. Moreover, we also expect the following:​

Required  

• 1-2 years of experience in international organizations and humanitarian settings, specifically in Child Protection or GBV sectors 

• 1 year experience managing/supervising teams for 1 year 

• Excellent knowledge of Child Protection and GBV minimum standards and basic principles 

• Excellent knowledge of psychosocial support basic principles and PSS key messages to vulnerable children and caregivers 

• Excellent knowledge and skills of PSS implementation and providing on the job coaching and mentoring and building capacity of staff 

• Excellent knowledge of basic facilitation skills 

• Excellent knowledge of safe identification and referral principles 

• Previous experience in Child Protection and/or GBV psycho-social support 

• Previous experience developing and supporting community-based protection mechanisms 

• Previous experience working with Syrian refugees in Lebanon 

• Fluency in Arabic and ability to communicate and write clearly in English are required​

Preferable 

• Masters degree in social work and/or psychology​

We offer 

  • Contract length: until 31 December 2019 
  • Level:  C1 
  • Monthly Basic Salary: 1650 USD 
  • Duty Station: Tripoli or Akkar 
  • Start date: March 2019​
