About the job 

The Program Support Officer (Protection PSS Capacity Building) has the overall responsibility to supervise and support the delivery of DRC’s protection program-quality psychosocial support (PSS) activities to children, caregivers and in a timely and efficient manner. Additionally, the officer has a key role and responsibility to build the technical capacity of community based organizations and partners on PSS related activities, designed to target children and caregivers.​

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

• Provide technical guidance, on the job training, coaching and mentoring to the PSS team on child protection and GBV minimum standards  

• Provide technical guidance, on the job coaching and mentoring to the PSS team on the principles of psychosocial support, learning and development principles for children and adults. 

• Ensure the team is trained and provide on the job coaching on PSS toolkits, approaches and curricula for caregivers and children. 

• Conduct field visits to observe PSS activities at least two days a week and provide technical guidance on facilitation skills, child protection, GBV and PSS key messages and communication skills 

• Feed into the integrated capacity building plans for all PSS partners in collaboration with partnership teams and protection Team leader 

• Feed into the post assessment, evaluation and phase out plans with partners, supporting their sustainability plans and capacity improvements to lead local protection work in the future. 

• Support the PSS team (DRC and partners) to develop a weekly, monthly and yearly work plan. Update it regularly and follow-up on its implementation in a qualitative manner. 

• Ensure staff are sufficiently trained and supported to enter data and useful information to be used for reporting or communication purposes 

• Monitor the progress of project targets against indicators on a weekly basis, for DRC and partner’s PSS components and contribute to the overall protection monthly report underlining protection issues and related trends and figures in coordination with the Protection Team leader 

• With the support of the protection team leader, feed into advocacy efforts for child protection and GBV issues identified with donor field focal points and through coordination mechanisms

About you 

To be successful in this role we expect you to have a Bachelor/Degree in Social work, Counseling, psychology or other related field. Moreover, we also expect the following:​

Required  

• At least 3 years of experience in international organizations and humanitarian settings, specifically in Child Protection, PSS and/or GBV sectors 

• Experience managing/supervising teams, providing on the job coaching and mentoring and building capacity of staff 

• Experience in working in capacity building and partners. 

• Computer Literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint) 

• Experience in conducting training needs analysis/assessments and developing training programs for a broad range of audiences from different institutional levels 

• Excellent knowledge of psychosocial support basic principles and PSS key messages to vulnerable children and caregivers, Child Protection and GBV minimum standards and basic principles and understanding of case management

We offer 

  • Contract length: until 30 June 2019 
  • Level:  C1 
  • Monthly Basic Salary: 1650 USD 
  • Duty Station: Tripoli 
  • Start date: February 2019​
