About the job 

DRC is planning to implement Cash for Work (CFW) projects in Arsal related to infrastructure and/or agriculture. The Livelihood Assistant will support the design, implementation and supervision of the CFW projects in Arsal area.. Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

• Map NGOs/INGOs, local authorities, youth committees, business and private stakeholders, mainly key active stakeholders in the area of Arsal 

• Support Senior Livelihood Officer in managing the Dialogue Tables process between local government officials, community organization and associations, business and industry representatives, and the population at-large, to provide  essential input into the development and selection of the cash for work projects; and prepare for the Dialogue Tables  process (list of participants, venue, refreshments, sessions); 

• Support Senior Livelihood Officer in the design of the CFW projects, preparation of tender documents, technical drawings, bill of quantities (BoQ) and work plan; ansd support in organizing the daily, weekly, and monthly workplan, in coordination with the Senior Livelihood Officer; 

• Be present on a daily basis on the field site during the implementation of the work and collect all needed documents and attendance sheets; 

• Coordinate with Procurement Department for providing materials, equipment and supplies for CFW projects; 

• Follow up on the implementation and quality of work conducted at the field level and ensure the proper use of materials and tools used during on-site works; 

• Provide constant feedback on progress, lessons learnt, achievements, gaps, and issues;  

• Report immediately any delay, problem or other relevant information to the Senior Livelihood Officer; 

• Conduct evaluation visits to ensure the completion of all activities in order to proceed with hand over process; and support in the technical evaluation of activities; 

• Collaborate with M&E  team in their monitoring activities and share timely information with them;

About you 

To be successful in this role we expect you to have a Bachelor degree preferably win Civil or Architectural engineer or related field. Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required  

• Good computer skills and knowledge of the MS office software including Word, Excel, and Outlook 

• Excellent communication and diplomacy skills to manage relationship in potentially tense situations 

• Ability to take initiative to deal with difficulties encountered in daily work 

• Able to manage stress and pressure

Desirable 

• Minimum 1 year of experience in Livelihood/Food security, Shelter or Wash projects is highly desirable  

• Previous experience in Cash for Work projects is highly desirable. Preference given to those with experience in civil engineering or as site engineers with private companies in construction, infrastructure or agricultural fields 

• AutoCAD skills is preferably

We offer 

  • Contract length: until end of November 2018 
  • Level:  B1, Monthly Basic Salary USD 1250.  
  • Duty Station: Bekaa/Arsal 
  • Start date: April 2018
