Job Summary                   

The main purpose of the position is, under the guidance of the Protection Team Leader, to implement Concern’s emergency response in Beirut and Mount Lebanon. The Protection PSS Officer will implement protection program activities by outreaching and providing PSS sessions for the affected population in Beirut and Mount Lebanon.

S/he will organises and carry out work to address an individual (and their family’s) needs in an appropriate, systematic and timely matter through direct support and / or referrals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Identification
  1. With the guidance of the Protection Team Leader, will participate in providing Community-based protection, awareness raising and outreach activities, Psychological First Aid (PFA), awareness raising on Legal support, life-skill trainings, PSS (Psycho-social Support) activities, youth, children and women focused protection activities and PEER initiative for vulnerable population in Beirut.
  1. Program Implementation
  1. Ensure the outreach of affected population in need of support.
  2. Schedule weekly activities in line with the objective of the program
  3. Implement PSS activities for children, youth, women and men in designated safe places;
  4. Implement life skills trainings for youth, women and men;
  5. Implement community-based protection/social projects, PEER initiative;
  6. Implement PFA for beneficiaries when needed;
  7. Conduct periodic assessments with beneficiaries to continuously understand activities that are relevant and motivate them to discuss
  8. Ensure daily reporting of attendance per activity and ensure that the data collected is accurate
  9. Ensure inclusion of people with specific needs and minorities in the project activities
  10. Ensure that referral pathways are functional based on the norms of ethic and confidentiality.
  11. Ensure that CRM (Complaints & Response Mechanism) is rolled out and functional;
  12. Ensure the activities are implemented in a safe environment where participants are well equipped and have access to WASH facilities to mitigate risk of COVID-19 transmission.
  1. Co-ordination and Reporting
  1. To liaise with caseworkers and service providers on management of caseload and referrals
  2. Provides weekly updates/reports on outreach activities to the Protection Team Leader
  3. Support the mapping of the available services and organizations operating in the area;
  4. Collect, store and analyse data of his/her activities;
  1. Work Ethic
  • Adhere to the standards of conduct outlined in the Programme Participant Protection Policy and Concern’s Code of Conduct;
  • Support the promotion of the standards outlined in the Programme Participant Protection Policy and Concern Code of Conduct to the team and to the beneficiaries, and be committed to providing a safe working environment;
  • Respect confidentiality and follow ethical guidelines.

  •  Any other task required by the program.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in the social sciences: Psychology, Social Work, and any other related degree;
  • Knowledge of protection principles in humanitarian aid;
  • Knowledge of concepts of SGBV and CP;
  • 2 years of experience in protection sector;
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience for delivering PSS sessions;
  • Knowledge about life skills and PFA;
  • Excellent communication skills; experience in training and facilitation is requested.
  • Good team player;
  • Good Microsoft office (word, excel);
  • Diplomacy, (active) listening skills;
  • Experience in working with different nationalities
  • Fluency in Arabic written and oral. Good in English (writing and oral).
  • Highly motivated individual.
