1. BACKGROUND:

The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization based in Beirut. CLDH was created in 2006 by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily), which has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human rights violations.

CLDH monitors the human rights situation in Lebanon, fights enforced disappearance, impunity, arbitrary detention and racism and rehabilitates the victims of torture. CLDH regularly organizes press conferences, workshops and advocacy meetings on human rights issues in Lebanon and collects, records and documents human rights abuses in reports and press releases.

CLDH team on the ground supports initiatives aimed at determining the fate of all missing persons in Lebanon.

CLDH regularly follows up on numerous cases of arbitrary detention and torture in Lebanon in coordination with Lebanese and international organizations, and with the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention WGAD and the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Logistics and Administrative Assistant will provide assistance to the CLDH team, by ensuring that routine services and activities within the administrative domain are properly implemented. Daily tasks include but are not limited to:

Admin work and logistics:

    • Carrying logistic and administrative duties such as filing, typing, copying, binding, scanning etc.
    • Booking conference calls, rooms, taxis, couriers, hotels, and flights..
    • Monitoring stationary levels and ordering office supplies.
    • Maintaining computer and manual filing systems.
    • Taking accurate minutes of meetings.
    • Coordinating office procedures.
    • Replying to emails, telephone or face to face enquiries, and documenting all information to create a new record sheet and template.
    • Developing and updating administrative systems to make them more efficient.
    • Following up on administrative issues.
    • Coordinating office logistics.
    • Photocopying and printing out documents on behalf of other colleagues.
    • Coordinating with pharmacies to ensure necessary supplies.
    • Following up the prescriptions (given by CLDH General Practitioner) with the Program Manager and Nassim Social Worker.
    • Any other responsibilities/functions deemed necessary by the supervisor/or senior manager in order to meet the level of the services in the organization.

 Supporting Nassim Team:

    • Calling beneficiaries to coordinate appointments with Nassim Program staff: Social Worker, Psychologist, General Practitioner and/or Physiotherapist.
    • Following up on the prescriptions (given by Nassim medical team) with the Program Manager and Nassim Social Worker.
    • Keep records of all appointments given by professionals at Nassim
    • Provide transportation to Nassim’s beneficiaries with receipts
    • Handling sensitive information in a confidential manner.
    • Coordinating with pharmacies to ensure necessary supplies.

Essential Minimum Qualifications and Professional Experience Required:

  • A minimum of 1 year in a similar position
  • Good communication skills and team player
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Organization and time management skills
  • Previous experience in procurement, compliance, and finance procedures
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Fluency in Arabic, English and French languages
