Foreign Trade in Goods for Lebanon - Quarter 2, 2012

The value of the Lebanese imports of goods in quarter two Q2 year 2012 was 7511 billion LBP. This was 1835 billion LBP i.e 19.6% lower than imports in previous Q1 of the same year 2012, and 310 billion LBP, i.e 4.3% increase comparing to the same quarter Q2 of the previous year 2011. Imports of petroleum products were the main contribute to this change, with a value of 2154 billion LBP lower than Q1 of the same year, and 387 increase since the same quarter Q2 of the previous year. Also, value of imports of precious metals this quarter was 161 billion LBP lower than the previous quarter of the same year 2012, and 253 billion LBP lower than the same quarter Q2 of the previous year. Besides, value of Lebanese exports in quarter Q2 of year 2012 was 1406 billion LBP. This amount to 761 billion LBP, i.e 35.1% decrease comparing to the exports in the previous quarter Q1 of the same year, and 1150 billion LBP, i.e 45% decrease comparing to exports in the quarter Q2 of the previous year 2011. This change in exports is mainly due to decrease in exported precious metals from 655 billion LBP and 538 billion LBP in quarters Q1 year 2012 and Q2 year 2011 respectively to 181 billion LBP quarter Q2 year 2012. Also decrease of exported machinery & equipment by 396 billion LBP, i.e 53.9% copared to quarter Q2 year 2011.
