Foreign Trade in Goods for Lebanon - Quarter 1, 2012

The value of Lebanese imports of goods in Quarter Q1 year 2012 was 9346 billion LBP. This was 518 billion LBP, 5.9% higher than imports in Q4 of previous year 2011, and 2162 billion LBP, i.e. 30% increase comparing to the same Quarter Q1 of year 2011. Imports of petroleum products were the main contributor to this change, with a value of 789 billion LBP higher than Q4 of the year 2011, and 1827 billion LBP increase since the same quarter Q1 of the last year. Besides, value of imports of precious metals this quarter was 192 billion LBP higher than the same quarter Q1 of the year 2011, but 128 billion LBP lower than the last quarter. Meanwhile value of Lebanese exports in quarter Q1 of year 2012 was 2167 billion LBP. This amount to 115 billion LBP, i.e. 5.6% greater than exports in previous Quarter Q4 of the last year 2011 and 358 billion LBP, i.e. 20% greater than exports in the same Quarter Q1 of the year 2011. Exports of precious metals products increased by 222 billion LBP, i.e. 51.2% compared to Q4 of year 2011 and 364 billion LBP, i.e. 125% since the same Quarter Q1 of the year 2011.
