The Pharmacist Is responsible for the management and supervision of the medical warehouse with the aim of optimizing and securing the management of medicines for all medical centers

DUTIES

  • Practice interventions within the framework of the internal regulations of Caritas and in compliance with the codes of ethics of the profession, MOPH, and order of Pharmacists
  • Apply the policies, procedures, decisions and recommendations approved by the board and the head of health department
  • Anticipate trends in drug needs of the population and provide constructive input in the strategic planning process
  • Ensure that drug expenditure is regulated by the most cost-effective research
  • Participate in the preparation of annual drug budgets
  • Propose supply recommendations and analyze the quantitative and qualitative needs of medicines on the basis of periodic and annual consumption, reports from MOPH, recommendations of the physicians…
  • Ensure administrative and medical follow-up of medication files with the Ministry of Public Health and other governmental entities, notably the Order of Physicians and the Order of Pharmacists
  • Monitor the local medicines market from suppliers, the introduction of new drugs or generic drugs, and drugs approved by the Ministry of Public Health.
  • Manage, in collaboration with the purchasing department, the tender procedure for medicines and other products delivered to the pharmacy with suppliers in accordance with the procurement procedures implemented by the management of Caritas
  • Manage drug orders, coordinates, checks and approve receipt (quantity, expiry date, quality control, etc.) in accordance with the board decisions
  • Organize the supply of the medical warehouse, and ensure control of all regional structures: supervision of the supply of health centers, minimum stock, expiry date, organization of the warehouse by zones, withdrawal of medicines on instructions from the Ministry Public Health, etc.
  • Constantly visit the different primary healthcare centers to monitor the application of standards and procedures related to drugs
  • Write a report following each PHCC visit and submit it to the head of the health department
  • Ensure the evaluation of new medicines in collaboration with the physicians and the nurses according to the evaluation sheet implemented in the health department
  • Prepare recommendations for good practices, guidelines and advice on good use and storage
  • Direct the teams on dosage and other information about new drugs
  • Develop a training program for staff on pharmaceutical knowledge when needed
  • Monitor storage conditions in the medical warehouse and health centers.
  • Respond to complaints as well as incidents and accidents related to drugs provided by Caritas
  • Ensure the implementation of procedures related to distribution of prescribed drugs
  • Manage expired medicines and dispose of them safely according to policies and procedures
  • Ensure a presence during regular inventories of medicines and ensure a regular inventory during the year
  • Actively participate in regular healthcare service meetings
  • Perform other duties of the same type requested by management

ACADEMIC EDUCATION

  • Bachelor degree in Pharmacy with permit from MOPH
  • Must be registered in the Lebanese Order of Pharmacists

  • 8 to 10 years relevant experience
  • Experience with NGO is a plus
  • Experience in community health is a plus
