CARE International in Lebanon (CiL) is part of a regional response to the Syrian Crisis to meet the immediate and most urgent needs of those who have fled Syria and provide support to local vulnerable host populations. Working with partners in WASH, Shelter, Protection, Livelihoods and economic opportunities in the North, South, Beirut, and Mount Lebanon Governorates CARE has a special emphasis on working with women and girls.
CARE is implementing a capacity building and livelihood community-based agriculture project that seeks to address critical capacity gaps along targeted value chains at both the individual, communal and institutional levels This position leads on the business development component, where s/he will work with the agriculture team to identify and support farmers, food producers, and manufacturers to improve their business model, revenue, product offering, marketing, and operational efficiency.

Education & Certification:
Bachelor or Master degree in business management or anything relevant. Alternatively, bachelor or Master degree in agriculture, or urban planning.
Minimum Education Level:
Bachelor degree with five years of experience, or MS degree with three years of experience
Proven Experience:
- Deliver business development training for vulnerable beneficiaries in North.
- Help in developing business content for the mentioned topics.
- Implementation of livelihood Projects integrated in Community Support Projects
- Conduct market survey and assessment.
- At least 1-3 years of experience as in business support functions, management, entrepreneurship, or as a trainer in an international NGO, preferably in Agriculture value chain or other livelihood projects
IT / Software / Technical Skills:
Familiarity with MS Office software.

Detailed Responsibilities & Tasks
Responsibility #1: Project Implementation & Technical Support
- Plan relevant outreach, support, training, and coordination activities
- Ensure close follow-up on project implementation as per donor agreement and CARE guidelines and agreed implementation strategy.
- Lead in the identification of beneficiary SMEs in the targeted areas and ensure the high quality of the data collected during the assessments and baseline.
- Enhance referrals pathways and ensure communities knowledge about the project in close collaboration with the Area Manager and the partners.
- Consult with businesses and value chain actors, analyze business models and financial information, determine appropriate products and services, and provide training and coaching to beneficiaries to improve productivity and profitability of selected businesses.
- Create market linkages for farmers
- Research supply and demand of targeted commodities and promote ways to improve buyer-seller intermediation for all targeted value chains.
- Implement recommendations for farmers and MSMEs to partner with financial institutions resulting in increasing access to and use of financial services within the region and determine viable opportunities for organizations to prepare all required applications, loan documents, and business plans
- Collaborate with bilateral projects across the region to strengthen higher ends of value chains.
Responsibility #2: Representation and Coordination
- In close collaboration with sector Coordinator, ensure CARE representation in the relevant technical coordination meetings at the Technical committee’s level.
- Liaison with relevant government actors and agencies to design and deliver program activities
- Support in the organization of field visits by donors, peer agencies, CARE Members, Media, etc.
- Develop and maintain relationships with program staff and senior management, public and private sector partners, and value chain actors.
Responsibility #3: Reporting & Information sharing
- Support partner NGOs regularly report to CARE according to established procedures.
- Draft narrative and quantitative reports as per CARE internal requirements and donor requirements.
- Ensure internal communication and data sharing on project with relevant departments specifically MEAL, grants, communications, and advocacy
