Berytech: Trainers for the Agrytech Phase III workshops

Context and background

Berytech is a leading organization in the Entrepreneurial Eco-system in Lebanon, that aims to provide a conducive environment for the creation and development of startups, through incubation, business support, counseling, funding, networking and company hosting, hence taking part in the economic revival of the country, participating in wealth and job creation, and retaining graduates and hi-level skills in Lebanon.

 

The Agrytech Program is a is an agri-food innovation hub that is co-funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Berytech Foundation in Lebanon. Agrytech is a three-pillared program that includes an Accelerator Program, a Cluster, and a Fab Lab. Agrytech's Accelerator Program sources the most disruptive ideas in the Agri-Food sector and provides them with the technical, business, and individual growth needed to convert these ideas into sustainable and successful startups with a global impact.

 

The Accelerator Program's mission is to nurture and grow disruptive ideas, proof of concepts, and prototypes that share three common characteristics:

  1. A disruptive scientific or technological focus in the agri-food sector.
  2. The possibility to scale beyond the local market
  3. The potential to create sustainable job opportunities locally

Phase III is a six months incubation program. The program focuses on fundraising, operations, and building healthy client and investor relationships to gain traction and scale.

 

 

Scope of work

Subject matter expert trainers are needed to deliver the below workshops. The expert will work closely with the Agrytech team members to deliver the below workshops.

 

Phase III workshops:

1. Negotiation workshop   (01/03/2019)
Workshop objective

The workshop introduces a systematic framework for understanding negotiation, heightens the entrepreneurs’ awareness of on their strengths and weaknesses as a negotiator, provides them with problem-solving techniques for distributing value and strengthening relationships, and provides them with tips on managing across the table and behind the table negotiations.

Workshop outcome

By the end of the workshop, entrepreneurs will develop the skill to choose a negotiation strategy, prepare for a negotiation, practice the steps of negotiation, manage conflict, create a win-win scenario, and recognize dirty tricks and tactics.

 

2. Term sheets and shareholder agreements    (15/03/2019)
Workshop objective

The workshop helps entrepreneurs understand deal structuring and term sheet negotiation and documentation. The workshop provides an overview of different available investment options, builds knowledge on critical components of the term sheet, and provides an understanding of the deal structuring process.

Workshop outcome

By the end of the workshop, entrepreneurs will develop the knowledge of essential terms, clauses, and conditions that investors negotiate and include when raising capital.

 

3. Investor pitching   (12/04/2019)
Workshop objective

The workshop will introduce entrepreneurs to methodologies that attract strong initial interest to the team, the company and the value of their innovation against the competition. The workshop also focuses on communicating a complete storyline that discusses the problem, includes interesting financial details, market reception, and a specific “Ask” of the listener; setting the stage for a positive next discussion.

Workshop outcome

By the end of the workshop, entrepreneurs will learn to develop a coherent pitch deck that communicates all crucial startup details and caters to an audience of investors.
