Call for Concept Notes

Under the project “Cash and Communication for Protection - Phase IV (CCP-IV)”, funded by US Department of State’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (USDOS/BPRM) and implemented from September 29, 2016 – September 28, 2017, Basmeh & Zeitooneh (B&Z), in partnership with Relief International (RI), is launching its 2018 Social Cohesion call for Concept Notes (CN). B&Z will support one local NGO with a 5,000 USD fund to implement a social cohesion project with the anticipated start date of February 2nd, 2018, and to be completed by the 28th of September, with the final activities to be completed by the 31st of August 2018. The Social Cohesion grant aims to improve the social relations between vulnerable host and refugee populations residing in Tripoli, through information sessions. As part of this grant B&Z will build the capacity of the selected LNGO and submit a full proposal in partnership with B&Z to Relief International by the end of the project.

All applications will be assessed based on their Strategic, Programmatic, Management and Monitoring and Institutional Criteria.

Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible for this grant your organization must comply with the following criteria:

Registered (preferably officially registered for more than 2 years) with the Lebanese government as a not for profit organization, including but not limited to a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Civil Society Organization (CSO), Association, etc; Must have an active bank account; Must have a well- defined mission statement that is humanitarian, neutral, impartial, and independent; Activities must be in alignment with the Sphere Standards; Has no political affiliations and/or organization/staff have no prior/current involvement in any illegal activities, such as terrorism, money laundering, etc The organization should be directly responsible for the implementation and management of the project, not acting as an intermediary; Demonstrate prior experience of at least 2 years in the specified areas. Knowledge and a thorough understanding of local context.

Guidelines for Submission:

Proposals must be submitted by the 7th of November. Proposals must include:

Requested documents as per the above checklist; Concept note following the template(Annex A); Budget summary following the template (Annex B); Detailed Work plan (Annex C).
Note: All documents to be shared in PDF format and filled in English.

The proposal must clearly demonstrate:

Key objectives with clear outcomes and outputs; Target group; Logical Framework and clear implementation methodology; Problem addressed by the proposed project; A participatory approach with communities; The impact on communities; Value for money; Risk assessment and contingency plan and; Stakeholder information.

Projects should target 70% Syrians and 30% Lebanese participants.

Successful applicant will then be eligible to submit a full proposal to Relief International at the end of the project cycle.

The fund can only cover:

Contractual services\ trainers; Transport; Refreshments; Stationery/printing.

The following cannot be funded under this budget: tobacco, alcohol, fireworks, equipment, staff salaries, or administration costs.
