1. BASIC FUNCTION: The Neighborhood Initiative Coordinator oversees the functioning of the Neighborhood Initiative office and manages collaborative projects undertaken with faculty, students and neighbors.
2. DUTIES PERFORMED: a. Works with the Project Leader of the Neighborhood Initiative to develop new project ideas based on an understanding of the neighborhood and AUB’s academic resources and interests. b. Follows-up and manages projects with AUB faculty, staff and neighbors. c. Organizes logistics for meetings, presentations and events at AUB and in the neighborhood. d. Manages Neighborhood Initiative communication and media relations, via AUB Communications Office. e. Updates and manages Neighborhood Initiative website. f. Administers and updates the Neighborhood Initiative database. g. Handles the Oracle processes: purchase requisitions, direct pay, petty cash, travel requisitions and expense reports. h. Coordinates with local donors, individual and corporate in fund-raising. i. Prepares contracts for consultants, designers, student employees, and interns. j. Performs other similar or related duties such as working with the Project Leader to set overall strategy for the Neighborhood Initiative.
3. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: a. B.A. degree from a reputable university, Masters degree is preferred. b. 5 years experience in relevant work, experience in an NGO or the private sector. c. Firsthand knowledge of Ras Beirut, its people and institutions d. Energetic, problem-solving personality. e. Ability to work with many different kinds of people f. Excellent verbal and written communication skills g. Fluency in English and Arabic (spoken and written)
