Dardashat Jandariya- Potential Change In Media Discourse On Sexuality In Lebanon

Dardashat Jandariya is delighted to invite you to the talk with Sahar Mandour around " Potential Change in Media Discourse on Sexuality in Lebanon"
Sahar Mandour is a Lebanese-Egyptian Journalist who works since 1998 for Assafir newspaper. She is currently responsible of “Palestine” – a Monthly independent supplement of the Newspaper. Sahar has in her history a sum of four novels: Hob Beiruty – 32 – Mena (Dar el adeb/Beirut)–Sa’arsom Najma Ala Ra’s Vienna ( La Cd-thèque /Beirut- Dar el shoorook/Cairo)
Sahar was the winner of a fellowship scholarship from the "Reuters Institute for journalist Studies " of "Oxford University" in Britain, during which she conducted a research starting by the current media coverage of the Cinema Plaza event in Beirut in 2012. Studying through the media accumulation that led to this televised coverage Sahar questions: was it an exception, or is it part of a relevant context? Is the context subject to development or the situation in Lebanon back then generated this uncommon coverage?
The study tackles as well the impact of the coverage development of issues around sexuality on both printed (Press) media and TV.
You can find the study published in English at the Reuters Institute website.
The talk will be given and discussed in Arabic.
