We are looking for a volunteer to join the Saudi Arabia team in Amnesty International’s regional office in Beirut for 2-3 days per week for 3 to 6 months.

The successful volunteer would be expected to carry out the following tasks:

  • Monitoring developments in Saudi Arabia and the region
  • Daily online media monitoring;
  • Maintaining and updating logs on various human rights issues.
  • Research tasks
  • Online data collection of human rights violations, particularly on Saudi Arabia;
  • Translate and summarize legal and human rights texts;
  • Proofread outputs and translations.
  • Campaigning tasks
  • Participate in campaign activities brainstorming sessions;
  • Assist with social media work
  • Manage information and update filing systems including the computerized database

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills:

  • General knowledge of Saudi Arabia and the Middle East region;
  • Good attention to detail;
  • Good working knowledge of computers: familiarity with word, excel and other databases;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English;
  • Academic background or work experience in relevant areas such as law, international relations, political sciences or asocial sciences.

Volunteering in one of the world’s leading human rights organisations can provide valuable experience and following your successful volunteer placement, you may request to receive references. However, please note that volunteering does not lead directly to employment with Amnesty International.

Volunteering is unpaid, although travel and lunch expenses are provided. We are able to offer only very limited advice in terms of finding accommodation and Volunteers are responsible for arranging their own visa/work permit where required.
