Responsibilities: 

1. Identify children in need of case management who are participating in other activities

2. Receive high risk child protection referrals for children in need of child protection case management. Priorities intervention according to risk level.

3. Ensure that informed consent/assent is taken before opening a case

4. Assess received cases and take immediate action to address urgent situations

5. Provide age-appropriate counseling and qualitative psychosocial support to children and their families throughout the case management process

6. Ensure the child is involved and participates in the establishment of the case plan

7. Store and file CP data ensuring the confidentiality of the information collected and the services provided according to the minimum standard

8. Participate in weekly case discussion meetings with the DRC area case management officer to ensure adherence to standards of care and appropriateness of intervention

9. Flag all high risk cases in which judicial intervention is required to the Officer and ensure they are referred immediately to UPEL

10. Produce case reports of quality to be submitted to the Officer for case conferences and/or to provide recommendations, especially on alternative care options to UPEL for complex cases in need of judicial intervention

11. Ensure the utmost confidentiality of case management data and information throughout the case management process; including protection referrals

12. Ensure close coordination with community based PSS teams in order to ensure children and their caregivers are referred from case management to focused and CB PSS and vice-versa

13. Receive referrals from different agencies, do action plan and appropriate response to each case

14. Raise gaps in CP response services and referral protocols to the Officer

15. Adhere to the principles and guidance of the National CP Case Management SOPs, including mandatory reporting requirements

16. Actively participate in training platforms such as  Peer 2 Peer program

17. Identify safe spaces to provide Focused PSS (FPSS) that adhere to the quality checklists for center-based and outreach activities shared at the inter-agency level

18. Deliver Focused PSS in line with global and national inter-agency SOPs/standards

19. Ensure that children and caregivers are registered in focused PSS activities without creating stigma and/or judgement

20. Create a safe space where participants can voice their opinions, thoughts and emotions, share experiences and brainstorm on solutions in a confidential and respectful manner

21. Actively identify the most vulnerable: children at high risk and their caregivers and ensure their enrollment in focused PSS programs

22. Ensure ALL children, caregivers in focused PSS sessions are referred to case management

23. Adapt the location and timing of sessions, content and approach of the focused PSS program to the needs and availability of the participants including children with special needs

24. Ensure that the caregivers of children engaged in child labor are referred to livelihood opportunities

25. Ensure that all children and adolescent boys in focused PSS are referred to education services, youth activities or livelihood opportunities for those above 15 years’ old

26. Ensure that ALL children and caregivers accessing focused PSS are referred back to community based PSS at the end of the program

27. Support participants to provide feedback on focused PSS through the SDQ

28. Maintain positive relations with local implementing actors, local authorities and other international and local stakeholders;

29. Perform any other duties relating to the nature of the job as directed by the protection coordinator

Experience and technical competencies:

  1. Exllent communication and psychosocial first aid skills
  2. Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility
  3. Comfortable in a multi-cultural environment,flexible and able to handle pressure well
  4. Computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel)
  5. Previous experience in international organizations and humanitarian settings is a plus
  6.   Most be able to drive and have a driver Licence
