ABOUT ABAAD

ABAAD – Resource Centre for Gender Equality is a UN ECOSOC-accredited organization that aims to achieve gender equality as an essential condition to sustainable social and economic development in the MENA region.

JOB PURPOSE:

The Senior Grants and Partnerships Coordinator will maintain ABAAD’s competitive position in pursuing relevant funding opportunities. S/He will lead the production of high quality applications and ensure compliance with donors’ requirements and provide support in grants management cycle and partnerships.

REPORTING LINES:

Post holder reports to:  Head of Programs

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Business Development:

  • Work with ABAAD Head of Programs, Technical Coordinators and program teams to identify new partners and funding opportunities and maintain donors’ relationships
  • Monitor and analyze trends in funding schemes and plan for new funding opportunities
  • Ensure effective communication within the organization regarding opportunities and maintain an updated matrix
  • Lead the design, planning and development of concept notes and proposals
  • Maintain good practices and develop standardized business development tools and material
  • Support program staff in maintaining relationships with donors, partner organizations and key stakeholders

Grants Management and Compliance

  • Develop and maintain grant and project management tools and ensure program staff are aware of timelines
  • Build capacity of program staff on grant management through trainings and one-on-one support
  • Organize grant opening, review and closing meetings
  • Support in producing quality donors reports (financial and narrative) and ensure their timely submission
  • Maintain hard and soft copies of grants documents
  • Support program teams in preparing contracts and agreements as needed
  • Conduct periodic compliance reviews of grants

Partnerships and sub-award management:

  • Maintain and develop standardized sub-awarding and partnerships procedures and practices
  • Initiate partnerships and sub-awards opening, review and closing meetings with partners
  • Ensure periodic tracking of sub-awards and partnerships on deliverables
  • Ensure partners’ compliance with donors and ABAAD’s policies and procedures

Documentation and Learning:

  • Maintaining data on past performance and organization capacity
  • Support in program review and evaluations, ensure documentation of best practices and lessons learned and dissemination of information with program staff
  • Support in the development of annual reports, program fact sheets, etc.
  • Ensure timely reporting to donors, compliance with donors’ requirements and templates and support in editing reports as needed

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of five years of experience in grant management in an I/NGO with UN, European and US donors
  • University degree in social science or related discipline, including gender and development;
  • Knowledge of gender and gender equality;
  • Demonstrated experience with coordinating funding proposals and progress reports
  • Competence with Windows, Microsoft Office
  • Fluent written and spoken English and Arabic; French are a plus
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
