Purpose:
ABAAD and UNFPA are partnering in a project aimed at enhancing the national GBV response through capacity building and knowledge production. Under the main component of generating evidence and tools to better target specific GBV prevention and response interventions, ABAAD and UNFPA will be fostering knowledge production on GBV through the implementation of a few research actions.
Under this activity, the recruited consultant will work on mapping of civil society actors in Bebnine area of Akkar. The mapping is coupled with a needs assessment to better understand the organization’s willingness and need for capacity development on gender, GBV core concepts among others.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
the consultant main duties and responsibilities are:
- Meet with ABAAD and UNFPA team to ensure full understanding of the TORs including deliverables and timeline.
- Develop Services Mapping Tool
- Develop Needs Assessment Questionnaire
- Report to & coordinate with assignment leads including ABAAD team; UNFPA team; MoWA focal person
- Coordinate with relevant local stakeholders in Bebnine area of Akkar, including Social Development Center, Municipality, among other relevant actors
- Meet with all relevant actors and share with Abaad the MoM of each meeting
- Delivering a final report summarizing the process and findings of the assignment as well as recommendations for a capacity development plan for organizations who are interested.

Educational Requirements
- Master’s degree in Public Health, Social Studies, or a relevant field
- Research related diplomas is a plus
Skills Requirements
- A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in conducting research and developing resources
- Previous experience in qualitative research and data analysis
- Highly organized and able to meet deadlines
- Excellent command in English language (written and English)
- Excellent verbal communication in Arabic
- Fluency in the use of the Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
Preffered Qualities:
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills and techniques to conduct research and address related problems
- A strong personal commitment to ABAAD’s principle and CoC (CP and PSEA policies)
- A commitment to not-for-profit ethical standards, accountability and transparency
- Ability to achieve goals and meet deadlines
- Self-motivated, intelligent, articulate, detail-oriented and able to manage and complete multiple tasks and assignments
- Ability to conduct scientifically valid research with attention to detail
LOCATION: Beirut based with travel to North (Akkar)
