Launching Regional Toolkit on Emergency Safe Shelters for GBV Survivors
This manual is considered first of its kind int he Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, and is considered a referential guideline to present the policies and procedures for the establishment and management of emergency safe shelters for women and girls survivors of various forms of violence.
The manual offers the most important tools and procedures, including internal rules and regulations, programming and other guidelines that clearly presents standard yet practical frameworks for the sheltering services, such that governmental and non-governmental organizations working to protect women and girls from violence can develop and institutionalize thier work in establishing and managing safe houses for women and girls' survivors of violence.
It was developed in partnership with experts from Tunisia, Jordan, Morocco, Syria, Egypt, Palestine, Iraq, Lebanon, Denmark and in consultation with the Global Network of Women's Shelters.
The ceremony also includes launching and distribution of copies of the training manual "Healthy relationships, healthy community curriculum: incorporating mental health, social norms and advocacy approaches to reduce intimate partner abuse" developed in partnernship with the University of Colorado- Boulder.
