UN Women’s regional programme, “Men and Women for Gender Equality”, was developed to address the root causes of gender inequality. The programme had a bottom-up approach that addresses social norms, legislation and policies and supported several organizations for that end. In 2019, and using the learnings from phase I, UN Women started implementing phase II of the programme (2019-2022) with the following focus: Implement and replicate interventions for challenging social norms and promoting gender equality.

  1. Support civil society organizations to advocate for legal and policy change.
  2. Advocate for the government to reform and/or develop laws, policies and strategies.

Under the first objective, to implement and replicate interventions for challenging social norms and promoting gender equality, KAFA was selected and assigned as umbrella organization to support 4 selected CBOs in designing, implementing and replicating community-based solutions and interventions for challenging social norms and promoting gender equality tailored to specific local contexts.

Scope of the assignment

The Project Coordinator will be responsible of the following:

  • In collaboration with KAFA’s director, provide technical leadership related to project design and development, planning implementation, and overall project management of the assigned program;
  • Assist the Financial Team in projects’ budgets and in preparation of technical documents such as receipts, bids analysis, sole source, etc.;
  • Oversee the overall project with all planned activities and follow up on progress and indicators;
  • Maintain good relations with CBOs, UN Women and other stakeholders involved in the project;
  • Ensure the agreement with UN WOMEN is implemented according to contract and set objectives and indicators;
  • Be responsible for timely and high-quality reporting on quarterly and yearly basis, and for ensuring CBOs deliver with quality and on time based on shared templates that should be filled and shared with KAFA between 5 and 7 days before the submission deadline of KAFA’s report to UN WOMEN;
  • Monitor project progress and implementation, facilitation of monitoring and evaluation missions and ensure regular monitoring of activities according to plans, through monthly/regular meetings and field visits conducted with CBOs, receive filled tools shared with CBOs for monitoring and reporting, running pre-post survey for implemented trainings, online monitoring and output reports…etc.;
  • Ensure timely delivery of all project outputs as required;
  • Inform UN Women about progress and will lead the data collection needed for M&E;
  • Represent the project in learning fora and contribute to the development of knowledge products as part of the UN WOMEN Lebanon and regional plans;
  • Ensure a standard of quality in all aspects of the projects;
  • Lead the documentation and dissemination of learning;
  • Attend the workshops and trainings when asked for;

Perform any other duties as may be assigned by KAFA’s director.

  1. Proficiency in written and spoken English.

  5. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  6. Good interpersonal skills including good coordination and effective working relations with stakeholders.
  7. Ability to lead teams and mentor staff.
  8. Experience with vulnerable populations, including immigrant and refugee populations and SGBV survivors.
  9. Experience in managing several project simultaneously is a plus.
  10. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, tasks efficiently.
  11. Experience working with refugee populations in emergency response context a plus.
  12. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  13. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  14. Will have strong management skills, Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, tasks efficiently, Good interpersonal skills including good coordination, Excellent time management skills and resourcefulness with strong attention to detail, Excellent planning and time management skills, and ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
