PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Project Manager will oversee the implementation of a community resilience strengthening project in the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon. Working under the supervision of ARK’s Chief of Staff, the Project Manager will be in charge of overseeing a variety of complex work assignments within the project, working closely with partners and engaging with donors on technical aspects of activity design and implementation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee the overall implementation of project components and activities in accordance with the project’s delivery plan, ensuring objectives are met within the required timeframe and budget.

Positively manage direct reports, ensuring optimal performance, high engagement, and committing to the proactive development of their skillset.

Oversee the capacity building of our key Palestinian NGO partner as well as the design and delivery of small grants and Quick Impact Projects to local Palestinian partners.

Maintain an overview of the Palestinian refugee camp context with a view to designing tailored project interventions and activities.

Develop project work plans and schedules, track project milestones and deliverables, and hold work status meetings with partners and staff to ensure all activities are completed on time and within scope.

Ensure the project is implemented in accordance with donor requirements and in accordance with ARK’s policies and procedures.

Follow the direction of Project Director and other relevant advisers regarding quality, strategy and technical guidelines.

Ensure effective relationship and coordination with project partners, providing necessary capacity building support.

Draft high-quality quarterly and final narrative reports in accordance with donor requirements.

Work with the Finance team to ensure that budgets are expended in accordance with donor funding within the appropriate timeframe, and make any recommendations for budget realignments when necessary.

Develop creative solutions for minimising program disruption due to COVID-19 and other problems that could cause programming implementation delays.

Requirements

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of bachelor’s degree; postgraduate degree in International Relations, regional studies, conflict resolution, or related subject is desirable.

Commitment to team-building and able to develop and support other team members.

A minimum of 5 years postgraduate experience, preferably in a post-conflict or conflict-affected environment is reqired.

Prior experience in and familiarity with the Palestinian refugee context in Lebanon is required.

Prior professional experience working in a conflict, stabilisation or development organisation at an international level.

Strong professional fluency in English and Arabic is required.

Proven ability to analyse, organise, problem-solve, manage, and prioritize work.
