Social Worker

MMU- Tripoli Zgharta is a three-year project implemented by the CWB. It aims to increase access to primary and secondary health care services for the vulnerable Lebanese and Syrian refugees in Tripoli and the districts of Zgharta and Danniyeh. The project will operate one MMU offering medical inspections, free of charge medicines, referrals to healthcare centers, and psychosocial support. The unit will operate in 10 different locations in the targeted region over a specific routing plan. The latter takes into consideration the intensity of needs as well as other stakeholder services to avoid overlapping and increase coverage.

Under this project, CWB is seeking to recruit a Social Worker having extensive communication and social assistance skills to coordinate all psychosocial support activities delivered under the project. He/she directly coordinates with the Principal Physician and reports to the MMU coordinator.

Objectives

The objective of the Social Worker position is to coordinate psychosocial support and education across all project activities and ensure proper referrals to identified cases to specialized stakeholders. 

Scope of Work

The social worker will be primarily responsible of the following activities:

• To offer socio-medical advice and guidance to the Mobile Medical Unit’s patients
• To establish a good communication network with the different actors in the area of intervention to facilitate implementation of health education sessions
• To attend the monthly health working groups alongside the Field Coordinator and report findings to the project manager  
• To coordinate with Mobile Medical Unit team and the PHC center to suggest topics to be raised
• To establish a feedback and complaint mechanism system for the beneficiaries
• To support the development of Health education material when needed
• To conduct training sessions
• To work in close coordination with the field coordinator to ensure timely implementation of activities planned for the Project
• To conduct regular focus group discussions, awareness sessions and questionnaires to evaluate medical activities
• To evaluate the impact of the awareness sessions with the participants
• To evaluate referral cases for needy patients to the hospital based on fixed vulnerability criteria
• To use predefined templates for the above mentioned activities
• To organize home visits for the vulnerable patients when needed
• To elaborate narrative and statistics reports on monthly, quarterly and annual basis to the management
• To relocate or face a longer commute when required

Essential Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor university degree in social work  or relevant fields

• Proven work experience as a social worker in humanitarian projects

• An ability to develop and interpret schedules, flowcharts and action plans

• Strong organizational skills, including time-management and multitasking

• Knowledge and exposure to the social and cultural values of the region

• Excellent teamwork and communication skills

• Excellent knowledge of Arabic and English languages

Main Deliverables/Expected achievements:

• Attend health working group meeting at regional level, CWB is well-represented in inter-agencies meetings.
• Report complains to the project management team
• Conduct weekly focus group discussions
• Conduct home visits when needed
• Update vulnerability criteria based on the context

• Timely weekly and monthly reporting
• Linkages and collaboration between all stakeholders in the region throughout the project activities are ensured.
• All progress is described and shared with M&E unit.
• All inquiries raised by staff, cooperating partner and donor are addressed.
• Schedules and implementation plans are followed, and activities are timely achieved.

Period

• 12 months with possible extension (Aug 2020-Aug 2021)
