We are a multidisciplinary space creating synergies and bridging between researchers, experts, civil society and NGO practitioners, and activists. Lebanon Support aims to foster social change through innovative uses of social science, digital technologies, and publication and exchange of knowledge.

We achieve our action-oriented mission through 3 main programs:

Daleel Madani: Lebanon’s civil society network

The Civil Society Knowledge Centre (CSKC): Lebanon Support’s online research and information platform on public action and civil society issues.

The Civil Society Incubator which provides tailored support and mentoring

Background of the project

In 2014, Lebanon Support, in partnership with Diakonia, undertook and published a mapping of gender actors in Lebanon (link here). The mapping compiles comprehensive information about actors working on gender issues in Lebanon based on a divided typology (i.e area of focus, sector of intervention, type of organisation). An analytical report based on the mapping data was also published (link here).

Lebanon Support is looking for a research consultant to review and update the data of the mapping. The main tasks will include notably:

Reviewing and updating the typology if needed;

Reviewing the current data to make sure it is accurate;

Updating the data through desk research as well as online interviews with gender actors across Lebanon.

The overall objective is to have an as thorough as possible mapping of gender actors all over the territory. The mapping will provide evidence-based data and information on gender actors and interventions in Lebanon. Hence, it will serve as a tool for various stakeholders working on gender issues – including researchers and scholars, policy makers, journalists, experts, state actors, and civil society actors – so as to better understand the gender landscape, tailor their actions and interventions, identify gaps in the sector, as well as opportunities for collaboration.

Based on the data collected, Lebanon Support will produce an infographic on the main trends and findings from the mapping.

Timeframe

The updated mapping is expected to be published by September 2020.

Deadline to apply: 15 June 2020
