For the expertise of Life Skills through arts Trainers under Safadi Foundation

  1. Background

Safadi Foundation is launching the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Programme for Syrian and Lebanese vulnerable youth affected by the Syrian crisis in Lebanon . This project aims to support Syrian refugees and vulnerable Lebanese youth to participate in technical and vocational training, entrepreneurship skills development, aligned to labour market needs and personal employment aspirations, which will foster their sustainable economic participation to contribute to the reduction of poverty and improved livelihoods.

The strategic objective of this project is trifold in its approach to improve employability of conflict affected, vulnerable and disadvantaged youth in Lebanon. First, it aims to develop youth employability through market oriented certified technical training programmes in addition to life skills, BLN, and Business Skills training programmes during crucial formative years, so as not to leave youth behind. Second, it aims to increase and facilitate youth employment and or self-employment, and enable them to become productive members of their society.

The main objective of this assignment is to empower unemployed youth by upgrading their skills to become semi-skilled workers in identified trades of high demand. This will be accomplished through non-formal education and short-term vocational training that will equip the appropriate skills and capabilities geared towards the labour market to enhance employment opportunities and facilitate their recruitment or self-employment

 

  1. Purpose

Safadi Foundation is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and experienced Trainers to join its training team who can provide Life Skills courses through expressive arts.

This training will target trainees from marginalized areas located in the North and enhance their participation and empower them to play a more effective role in improving their quality of life. Precisely, this training will be implemented to boost youth employability through job counselling by helping them to know and understand themselves and the field of work in order to make a career, and good life decisions.

This training should be implemented  through expressive art approaches to which shall be covering conflict resolution, decision making, enhancing self-confidence and empowering positive communication by understaning types of personalities and defining individual strengths and goals throughout training sessions.

The successful national candidate will be expected to:

  • Provide a training content based on the shared curricula, field manuals, and information database by SF team.
  • Provide advice on best practices in the relevant sector in Lebanon to maximize support for participants to market linkages.

The general objective of the proposed training is to train approximately 25 Youth on personal development and life skills.

  1. Tasks and Responsibilities
  1. To use Presentations, videos and case studies in training sessions.
  2. Final report of findings and recommendations: The Trainer shall report directly to the Head of Social Empowerment Unit, in particular. S/he will submit the following reports at the end of the training sessions:
  • Presentation of training outcomes to the SF field team and technical advisors;
  • Training Reports which includes: i) number of beneficiaries (disaggregated by gender and nationality), ii) session reports, iii) provide guidance for future steps.
  • Present a final report including recommendations (template available)

  1. Qualifications Required

 

  1. Person Qualifications:
  • Selected candidate should be an expert and have an advanced experience in providing similar trainings; at least 3 years of experience.
  • Strong experience in delivering training to multicultural attendees.
  • Knowledge and experience in working with NGOs/ local authorities for at least 3 years
  • Capacity to think creatively in dealing with vulnerable audience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a supportive technical and communication style.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, demonstrated ability of designing effective presentations to Strong command in Arabic (the training language)
  • High reporting experience
  • Clear understanding of the political, geographic, and economic dynamics of Tripoli area.
  1. Years of Experience: 3-5 years of experience in working in similar field
  2. Competencies:
  • Show respect to beneficiaries’ confidentiality.
  • Respect and promote SF’s Policies.
  • Address needs and requests in a professional way.
  • Report any incident or act that causes any harm to a beneficiary or to others.
