الوصف:

Soins Infirmiers et Development Communautaire (SIDC) and ACTED are implementing a 2-year project funded by the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights entitled “Enhancing The Inclusivity of the LGBTI Community in Workplaces In Lebanon”. The action runs from January 2020 to the end of December 2021. The overall objective of the action is to promote and protect the rights of LGBTI Persons in Lebanon by increasing their employability and accessibility to the workplace.

In This project targets primarily the LGBTI community in Lebanon, and secondly the private sector employers and HR managers through three main objectives: 1) To improve workplaces by making them more inclusive and responsive to the human rights and fundamental freedoms of the LGBTI community in Lebanon; 2) To empower the LGBTI community to seek and maintain employment based on their personal preferences and professional goals and 3) To facilitate change and challenge social norms, perceived roles of individuals and prejudices that exist in societies leading to stigma, discrimination and human rights violations of LGBTI at the workplace.

In order to achieve this overall objective, one of the project activities involves conducting:

  • An assessment on the perceptions and attitudes of employers towards LGBTI community.
  • A situation analysis of LGBTI community in the workforce.

On one hand, the assessment will help in understanding the work environment policies and to which extent they are inclusive and will help at the end of the project to open a discussion about the labour law and to suggest at later stage an activity to make it more inclusive and free form stigma and discrimination and supportive for all people with all their diversities.

Additionally, SIDC will conduct the situational analysis of the LGBTI community in the workforce which will allow both implementing partners to determine the percentage of LGBTI individuals who are discriminated against and face barriers in accessing work opportunities, and which industries they are mostly engaged in.

The results of these assessments will be documented in a report which will be used throughout the implementation of the project to raise awareness about the barriers to access employment faced by members of the LGBTI community. This research will also help SIDC and ACTED determine the most discriminating industries on which they should focus for the trainings.

Therefore, SIDC would like to hire a research consultant for total of one month to help achieve the activity objectives under the framework of the EIDHR project.

    Assignment:

The consultant will be responsible to coordinate with SIDC and ACTED throughout the consultancy period in order to access the private sector companies and reach out to the employers and conduct the assessment.

    Duties and responsibilities:

  • In close coordination with SIDC and ACTED, conduct the assessment with private sector employers representing at least 4-6 different sectors.
  • Analyze the results of both assessments (employers and LGBTI workforce).
  • Produce a comprehensive research report entailing a literature review, methodology, analysis and results (maximum of 20 pages, excluding the annexes).
