Support UNICEF Project

Guide the outreach workers /social workers/educators to identify and work with children with disabilities, families and communities.

Provide training, mentoring and methodological support and guidance to regular teachers on including children with disabilities in learning (identifying special education needs, teaching techniques and teaching strategies for inclusion).

Conduct special education needs assessment process of the learners or if necessary refers to formal assessment, for receiving specialized services or special needs supplies

Oversee the organization of specialized services for children with disabilities as necessary.

Plan activities or support measures that are specific to each student’s abilities, supports finding solution to remove barriers

Monitor the progress of the learners with special education needs and discusses with teachers and parents; collects data and maintains records of progress and development

Ensure the correct reporting on disabilities in Activity Info, Child Level Monitoring Tool, and narrative reports.

Provide support and guidance to the families and ensures their engagement in family engagement activities.

Make a recommendation on the pathway for the child after completion of the given course of study.

Liaise with Caritas Case workers for identification of children in need of NFE, and for referral to next step in the pathway (formal education or another Non-formal opportunity)

Participates in child protection and education sector meetings. Participates in trainings organized by UNICEF

Assure all ECE centers are fully equipped for children with special needs.

Assessment of inclusive education implementation

Local level advocacy plan – developed

Activities to increase social inclusion in rural communities – started and ongoing

Quality monitoring of ongoing activities done on regular basis

Capturing the rigorous evidence to be used for UNICEF, EE and future proposals. Produce the contribution of CWB report, related to the CP part (how this project contributes to the objectives of the CP TP).

Mainstream Disabilitythroughout WVL development programming

Provide technical support to WVL staff to mainstream disability

Support APs to mainstream disability during design/re-design phase including advice on resourcing, data collection and analysis, M&E and appropriate tools and information.

Support Programmes to mainstream disability as they develop proposals (including PNS).

Actively contribute to concept papers, proposal writing and partner identification when the project is disability specific.Capture learning from WVL programs and share with relevant stakeholders (within WVL and the partnership)

Work with the External Engagement team to promote appropriate disability messaging and language.

Work with the Programmes team to ensure that disability is incorporated into proposals in a meaningful way.

Support the Project Management team in future proposal.

Increased number of children with disabilities/people with disabilities who are included within programmes operating in Lebanon.

A disability inclusion plan is developed and implemented including within the accountability system

Relevant teams are aware of disability inclusion issues and supported to increase inclusion. A disability message and appropriate language guide are produced

Concepts notes for future disability projects are written

Handle staff and Volunteers Capacity Building

Build capacity of staff, volunteers and community stakeholders through training and awareness raising to understand disability issues, models and intervention approaches

Work with senior leaders to identify disability focal points in APs/partners and roll out a ToT model for disability awareness/mainstreaming

Contribute to orientation programs of all staff , volunteers and partners

Facilitate access to disability inclusive programming resources, research and learning opportunities.

Staff, partners, stakeholders and volunteers are aware of disability inclusion and understand how to include people with disabilities within the development process

Perform other duties as required

Attend and participate in capacity building trainings locally and internationally.

Attend and participate in WVL’s spiritual nurture and other organizational events.

Responsible of own security and actively contribute to a positive security culture.

Abide by the security policies and procedures and report any incidents or breaches to line manager and / or security manager.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Line Manager.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. A university degree, in education special education, inclusiveness, psychology, social pedagogy, or other relevant areas
  2. At least two years of professional experience in special education or inclusive education Experience of working in the child-related sectors and programs, inclusion mainstreaming related experience.
  3. Strong understanding of disability rights and inclusive education in particular
  4. Knowledge of the disability sector and inclusive education in Lebanon
  5. Excellent English - to enable representation at international level and preparation of reports
  6. Ability to communicate and inspire others – thus Arabic is essential
  7. Ability to influence, network and collaborate with government, NGOs, donors, and other stakeholders (both mainstream and disability specific)
  8. Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure, efficient task prioritization and time management
  9. Good relationships/networking with the actors of the CP and other sectors.
  10. Ability to establish and maintain relationships with the community
  11. Computer literacy (MS Office: WORD, EXCEL, PP, e-mail, Internet)
  12. Experience in teacher training is an asset
  13. Strong training & facilitation skills;
  14. Strong coordination skills
