Program Coordinator

The program coordinator is responsible for managing all research, capacity building, and outreach activities of the Conflict Medicine Program. The coordinator will work closely with the Conflict Medicine Program co-Directors on coordinating existing research projects and further advancing the program through the development of new projects and initiatives.

Responsibilities:

The recruited person will be responsible for:

• Planning with the co-directors the research strategy for the program and leading the development and submission of new grant applications
• Planning the research design, methods, work schedules, and deliverables of the new CMP projects and following up on work progress of existing projects
• Ensuring the timely achievement of deliverables and coordinating among co-investigators the drafting of progress reports to partner institutions and funders
• Supervising the research tasks specified in a timely and effective manner
• Managing a team of project coordinators and research assistants and handling recruitment of new team members as required
• Ensuring that the overall requirements of the research and capacity building projects are met
• Contributing to manuscript writing for publication and dissemination of results from projects
• Managing projects budgets and spending in close coordination with the grants manager
• Liaising with relevant stakeholders of the program and projects and ensuring that presentations are planned and reviewed ahead of time for advisory and executive board meetings
• Plan and supervise the work of interns under the conflict medicine program
• Organize and hold in-person and virtual meetings with multiple stakeholders across projects

Qualifications and Application:

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications 

• A clinical background (medical/paramedical) with Master’s degree in public /global health or related field
• At least 2 years of health research management experience that involved coordinating research, operational, and implementation projects in conflict-affected/low resource settings
• Good knowledge of the humanitarian/conflict context and the health challenges and priorities in conflict such as WASH, AMR, trauma, infectious and non-infectious diseases, humanitarian response in the management of war-related injuries etc... Previous field experience in humanitarian/conflict setting is a plus.
• Experience managing a team of interdisciplinary researchers and staff as well as multiple project budgets
• Relevant experience in writing multidisciplinary research proposals and grant applications that combine clinical and public health components
• Previous experience in conducting scoping/systematic reviews and supervising qualitative and quantitative data analyses and reporting
• Experience in preparing research and IRB tools (surveys, questionnaires..)
• Advanced academic writing, presentation, and documentation skills
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, lead and manage multiple projects and teams, and prioritize/delegate tasks to meet deadlines
• Experience in planning and organizing interdisciplinary workshops
• Fluency in spoken and written English and Arabic
• Proven excellent analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills
