Counselor For Innovative College-Readiness Program Serving Low-Income Lebanese and Refugee Young Adult Students

Key areas of Responsibility

• Provide individual therapy sessions for beneficiaries

• Provide group therapy sessions for beneficiaries, when shared needs are detected and group therapy is deemed appropriate

• Work closely with the AUB Faculty Lead in order to provide the necessary psychological services needed for the beneficiaries

• Provide documentation - progress notes for each session, treatment plans, and weekly/monthly reports for the AUB Faculty Lead

Key Characteristics and Qualifications

• A license to practice psychology from the Ministry of Public Health

• Minimum 2-3 years of experience working in a Clinic/ Treatment facility/NGO

• Clinical experience with refugee communities preferred

• Must have experience writing progress notes, treatment plans, and weekly/monthly reports

• Must be motivated, independent, and work well in group settings

• Strong ability to work within different cultural environments

Background: The Center for Civic Engagement and Community Service (CCECS) at the American University of Beirut (AUB) is implementing a blended college-readiness program that prepares Syrian refugees and vulnerable Lebanese youth for entry into higher education. This program provides foundational academic course work in English and Humanities, Math, Science, and Digital Skills. This project is funded by UK aid from the British people through SPHEIR (Strategic Partnerships for Higher Education Innovation and Reform) in partnership with King’s College London, Al Al Bayt University (Jordan), Kiron Open Higher Education (Germany), and FutureLearn (UK).
