Local NGO interested in development or professionalization of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) services for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV)
1. Context
Working in cooperation with state and civil society agencies from Germany, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Turkey, GIZ’s Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Regional Program contributes to improved health and wellbeing in the Middle East. It promotes the integration of MHPSS-approaches in sectors such as education, employment or infrastructure, facilitates exchange between relevant actors and strengthens expertise on the ground. Since its inception in 2015, the program fosters common principles for high quality MHPSS work and supports the implementation of these principles. Its recommendations and guidelines address the needs of different beneficiaries: Survivors of sexual- and gender-based violence (SGBV), persons in risk of suicide, formerly IS-affiliated child soldiers and others.
2. Objectives
The Regional Program is currently looking for a Lebanese civil society organization interested in cooperation in the professionalization of MHPSS services (for instance psychotherapy, counseling, group activities, others) for survivors of sgbv. The Regional Program’s support is tailored to the needs of the NGO partner and consists in training, coaching, supervision, technical consultancy or others and a small subsidy to financially complement MHPSS service provision. Please note that the subsidy does not replace core funding. Eligible organizations must have additional sources of funding.
Interest of the Regional Program in this cooperation: Develop and refine quality principles for MHPSS services for survivors of SGBV. Interest of NGO partner: Develop and professionalize MHPSS service provision.
3. Requirements for interested NGOs
- The NGO must be registered under the Lebanese rules and regulations.
- Support to SGBV survivors is a major area of intervention or this area is currently in the process of development
- The NGO is committed to investing time and resources in the development or professionalization of its MHPSS services for sgbv survivors
- The NGO disposes of core funding and project funding for the years 2020/2021 to secure its basic functioning and project activities
- The NGO is interested in testing and further developing quality principles for MHPSS with SGBV survivors.

5. Application process
The applicant shall submit Expression of Interest (EoI) to the following email address: [email protected] accompanied by copies of all the required documents (listed below) in PDF format on Monday, March 2, 2020 by by 23:59 Beirut Local Times at the latest. The subject line must be clearly marked as follows: “Mental Health and Psychosocial Support”
Required documents including name and contact details of the organization containing the following:
A). A concept note describing the following:
- Motivation for cooperation
- Existing MHPSS services (if applicable)
- Planned development or professionalization of MHPSS services
- Ideas on technical support the GIZ regional program should provide (objectives of training, coaching, advisory? Addressing which topics or skills?)
- Amount of required subsidy and intended purpose (a detailed budget is not necessary at that point)
B). Information on the NGO, in particular:
- A brief description of the projects implemented in 2020/2021, including information on donors/partners and amount of award
- The registration paper of the NGO
- Organigram and staff structure (number of employees, functions)
- Organizational history (founder, founding history, founding purpose, mission and vision)
