Helem is seeking an experienced and dedicated Programs Coordinator to join its energetic and diverse team in order to assist the organization in reaching its strategic goals. We are looking for an extremely meticulous and detail-oriented dynamo to streamline our programming, financial, and compliance protocols and centralize our monitoring and evaluation procedures and timelines. We are also looking for an individual with experience in working on multiple connected platforms and leveraging technology in order to help us serve the LGBTQ+ community with optimal efficiency.

Helem is looking for a team player who has had experience working in non-profits with a specific focus on human rights, humanitarian aid, gender and sexuality, and community building. The Programs Coordinator are also expected to engage fully in creatively solving complex problems across multiple fields and engage in creative brainstorming for new ideas and approaches as well as innovative programming and projects for safeguarding and promoting LGBTQ+ rights. Experience managing grants and working on monitoring and evaluation/compliance is an asset. Ability to understand financial documents and monitoring systems also highly preferred.

 

Job Description:

  1. Assist in managing and overseeing the implementation of Helem’s assigned programming and all established timelines and objectives;
  2. Assist in managing and overseeing the implementation of Helem's assigned budgets associated with each program and monitor expenditures according to established objectives and timelines;
  3. Monitor and manage all of Helem's financial expenditures and liaise with Helem's finance department and ensure the procurement of all funds necessary to complete all necessary activities and expenditures;
  4. Insure any and all compliance, monitoring and evaluation activities are met, recorded, archived and available for reporting;
  5. Monitor and evaluate all programming activities on a regular basis and actively manage any discrepancies in quality of service or implementation;
  6. Archive all necessary information, documents, and forms pertaining to each program and insure their safe and systemic documentation;
  7. Engage with the Executive Director and other staff members in necessary strategic planning, procurement of items, hiring of staff, and activity implementation of select Helem projects and programs;
  8. Assist the Executive Director in the management and implementation of Helem's strategic plan as well as creating and maintaining administrative, archiving, and monitoring mechanisms for all Helem;
  9. Assist the Executive Director in generating narrative and financial reporting on the implementation, quality, time-adherence, and expenditure of all assigned programming;
  10. Assist the Executive Director in managing and liaising with all internal staff and external personnel for the implementation of assigned projects including performance monitoring, goal tracking, and quality assurance;
  11. Provide advice and expertise on program and project implementation, including strategic, administrative, and logistical support when needed;
  12. Assist in any other tasks deemed necessary by the center or organization’s leadership.

Professional Competencies:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant work experience in non-profits
  • Familiarity and/or previous exposure or work in the human rights, gender, and sexuality fields
  • Arabic and English language fluency required, including in writing. 
  • Computer literacy (Word, Excel) 
  • Efficient multi-tasker and problem solver
