Trainer for Like Skills and Life Coaching

1. BACKGROUND:

The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization based in Beirut. CLDH was created in 2006 by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily), which has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human rights violations.

CLDH monitors the human rights situation in Lebanon, fights enforced disappearance, impunity, arbitrary detention and racism and rehabilitates the victims of torture. CLDH regularly organizes press conferences, workshops and advocacy meetings on human rights issues in Lebanon and collects, records and documents human rights abuses in reports and press releases.

CLDH team on the ground supports initiatives aimed at determining the fate of all missing persons in Lebanon.

CLDH regularly follows up on numerous cases of arbitrary detention and torture in Lebanon in coordination with Lebanese and international organizations, and with the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention WGAD and the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture.

CLDH opened in 2007 a Rehabilitation Center for the victims of torture in Beirut, Centre Nassim, member of IRCT (International Rehabilitation Council for Torture victims), which provides multi-disciplinary professional support and case management for victims of torture and their families.

CLDH compiles a daily press review on human rights violations and on-going judiciary cases in Lebanon and updates several human rights blogs.

CLDH is a founding member of the Euro-Mediterranean Federation against Enforced Disappearance (FEMED), a member of the Euro-Mediterranean Network of Human Rights (REMDH) and a member of the SOS Torture Network of the World Organization against Torture (OMCT).

Currently, CLDH is implementing a project in the Bekaa Valley in Partnership with Oxfam and funded by Danida, during which CLDH provides legal aid support to Syrian refugees and to poor and vulnerable local community members. Moreover, CLDH aim to spread awareness on relevant legal topics through legal information sessions.

1-Job Profile:

Within the direction of the Program Manager, the consultancy aims to Develop and deliver a two-day training (01/02 February 2020) to a group of 15 participants (Target group: host community, the youth generation).

The participants will be trained on the following topics: Life Skills, Leadership and Life Coaching. The participants will also have a training on labor law (given by one of our lawyers).

 

 2-1- Training requirements:

 

  • Developing the training’s curriculum and teaching aids including the agenda, working methods and procedures, handouts, and evaluation forms (which will be discussed and approved by CLDH). 
  • Identification of the Elements of each of the following topics: 

For the Life Skills:

  • Decision making and problem-solving;
  • Creative thinking (see also: lateral thinking) and critical thinking;
  • Communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Selfawareness and empathy;
  • Assertiveness and equanimity; and.
  • Resilience and coping with emotions and stress.

For the life coaching: 

  • Goal setting. 
  • Skills acquisition. 
  • Strategic decision making. 
  • Self-induced obstacles

For leardership:

  • Conflict management and transformation
  • Creating safe and inclusive environments.  

 

2-2- Key Deliverables:

 

After the delivery of the training, the trainer is expected to submit to CLDH a report including a concise presentation of the training session content and the applied methods as well as their feedback on participation, level of interest and the most important issues raised throughout the training sessions. The trainer is also expected to design the training evaluation forms, both pre and post tests for the sessions.

 

The outline of the report should include:

 

  1. Objectives of the Training Sessions AND a comprehensive evaluation detailing what changes have taken place in the participants during the course of the Training Sessions which have led to these objectives being achieved; 
  2. Brief description of participant’s profile (participant numbers, age, nationality, role in his or her community, etc.);
  3. A detailed explanation of the Training Sessions' methods and specific exercises;
  4. What were the challenges in achieving the objectives of the Training Sessions?
  5. What were the successes you can highlight? 
  6. Analysis of the participants’ pre and post-tests;
  7. Analysis of the participants’ evaluation forms;
  8. Recommendations for next steps (follow up measures);
  9. Recommendations for similar future activities; 
  10. Annexes: Agenda containing questionnaire templates, training material, data entry of the pre and post tests and evaluation forms (using software such as Excel) and all other relevant documentation together with all of the completed Forms as well as hard copies of all other relevant documentation

The candidate should have a high level of integrity, accountability, and punctuality. He/she should also demonstrate and be exemplary in portraying CLDH values and ethics

 5-Minimum Qualification and other Requirements:

Experience: At least three years of similar work experience is required. Candidate should be able to work independently. Demonstrated an extensive facilitation/training experience.
