Activity Plan for National Intern (Intern)

Reports to: Project Advisor
A. Required Qualifications, Competencies and Knowledge: Formal Education
 University degree in International Relations, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Management Studies, Public Administration, or a related field.
Other Qualifications
 Internet proficiency and solid knowledge of standard office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
 Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Arabic
 Creative open-minded team player with strong initiative and willingness to learn;
 Ability to work in a multi-cultural working environment.
 Fair knowledge about the Palestinian refugees in the region and specifically in Lebanon.
 Previous experience of work with community and youth mobilization.
 Previous experience of working with refugees’ communities is a plus

B. Responsibilities:
The national intern is responsible for:
 Assist project advisors during their fieldwork if needed.
 Provides support to project staff, including administration assistance
 Assists in organizing of meetings and events
 Prepares of briefing notes and minutes.

The intern performs the following tasks:

C. Tasks:
 General administrative and technical tasks in the project office / support of the project team and responding to emerging needs of the project administration;
 Assists in communication with beneficiaries and stakeholders.
 Provides translation to the international team when needed;
 Prepares meetings, conferences, trainings, workshops
 Drafts documents
 Assists in data entry for monitoring purposes
 Assists in filing

Description of the project:

The project, PART (short for PARTicipation), cooperates with UNRWA and other partner organisations and aims at increasing the influence of Palestinian refugees on improving their living conditions.

The future of Palestinian refugees remains one of the core unresolved challenges of the ArabIsraeli conflict. According to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), Palestine refugees are persons whose normal place of residence was Palestine during the period 1 June 1946 to 15 May 1948, and who lost both home and means of livelihood as a result of the 1948 conflict. UNRWA was created by the UN in 1949 to provide services to Palestine refugees. Today, about one third of these refugees (about 1.7 million) still live in refugee camps in the Palestinian territories (West Bank and Gaza), in Jordan, Lebanon and in Syria.  In the context of the ongoing conflict, they have hardly any possibilities to participate in influencing and shaping their living conditions for the better.
