ROLE PURPOSE:

Reporting directly to the Risk and Compliance Manager, the Risk and Compliance Assistant will assist in evaluating compliance with donors’ requirements, Save the Children policies and regulations, child safeguarding, fraud and corruption. He/she will be in charge of reviewing existing internal control documentation, testing current processes and procedures, providing improvement recommendations, and following up on the implementation of action plans. The post holder will also assist in evaluating the effectiveness of response to internal and external risks identified in the Country Risk Management tools, as well as partners’ activities and controls.

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 2 – the responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have some contact with or access to children or young people.

 

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Risk and Compliance Manager.

 

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Internal assessments

- Assist with setting the annual Risk and Compliance plan, and identifying the test works to be done.

- Carrying out relevant interviews with various financial and operational positions regarding day-to-day duties and controls.

- Support the ICCM in documentation review to ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and donors’ requirements, child safeguarding practices, and mitigation plans identified in the Risk Assessments, etc.

- Recommend processes improvements.

- Assist in creating/using adequate follow-up tools.

- Carry out administrative tasks related to the Risk and Compliance Department, such as filing, updating elements on Datix (SCI online reporting tool).

- Follow up to ensure that recommended actions are implemented.

- Carry out ad hoc spot checks as requested by the Risk and Compliance Manager.

Partners’ assessments

Assist with setting a partners’ specific annual assessment workplan: obtain relevant information about existing partners and activities.

- Participate in partnerships assessments and identify internal controls gaps, and needed capacity building.

- Carry out relevant tests and checks to ensure partners’ compliance with SCI policies and procedures, and effectiveness and quality of activities implementation.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

- Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Economics, Finance, or Business.

- 1 year-experience in a similar position (or equivalent in internships)

- Ability to analyze information and form a conclusion.

- Ability to make independent judgment and initiative to make decisions.

- Adhering to the highest degree of confidentiality, professional standards and objectivity.

- Ability to interact positively and communicate with all levels of staff.

- Effective time management, multi-tasking and organizational skills to meet tight deadlines as well as the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
