Background 

Womanity believes that Media can play an influential role in transforming power relations, societal norms, and gender relations. With this view, since 2010, the foundation has developed programmes that use media productions and media formats to create avenues for broader discussions on the role of women in Arab societies. By doing so, it can promote their empowerment and their rights and showcase their positive contribution to their communities. These programmes include Radio Nisaa, an independent radio station in Palestine and a digital series (previously called B100Ragl), now under production in its fourth edition, distributed online via Facebook and Youtube.

 

Digital Series (previously B100Ragl; currently under production for the fourth edition under a new name)

The show is a YouTube based satire show that debunks gender stereotypes and deconstructs common traditional narratives about gender. The show will tackle issues like unpaid house work, wage gaps, the pink tax, gender and honour, gender and space, health, parenting and social construction of gender and men and masculinity. The successful applicant will be responsible for working closely with the production team to ensure production and distribution milestones are met, mapping out outreach activities with universities and key media organizations to raise awareness both among youth on gender and women issues in the region, and to also raise awareness on the need to create gender conscious content in media in general, and digital media in particular.

 

Job Purpose

The Program Manager is primarily responsible for ensuring the successful planning and implementation of program activities. Under the supervision of the Director of Programs, the Program Manager will be responsible for implementing the program strategy and various activities, mapping out and implementing the outreach plan and managing partner relationships. The Program manager will also be responsible for tracking key milestones on program activities, reporting, outreach activities and developing a plan to strengthen and expand relationships with partners in alignment with the strategic objectives of the program. The program manager will also be responsible for ensuring that program activities are constantly improved by learning from international best practice and that institutional learning and outcomes (successes and failures) relating to program activities are captured for continuous improvement.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

 

Leadership and Strategy

  • Ensure that the strategy and design of all program elements are closely aligned to the program vision, mission and objectives.
  • Work with the DP, program team members and wider Womanity team to ensure that the implementation of all program elements are closely aligned to the program vision, mission and objectives. 

 

Program Delivery/Operations

  • Responsible for delivery of impact and effective implementation of program strategy and action plan 
  • Ensure that the program respond to program strategic objectives, relevant socio-economic developmental issues related to women and where possible that these are aligned with SDGs and local governments’ development agendas
  • Identify relevant partner organizations and ensure consistent engagement with them to achieve targets set 
  • Continually engage with and assess broader stakeholder base to assess opportunities for operational partnerships
  • Work with the DP to ensure that the program activities can be effectively evaluated and that its outcomes can be measured in the aggregate
  • Work closely with other team members leading program production, promotion and distribution and monitoring and evaluation to ensure integration of various relevant aspect to program planning and implementation  
  • Leading the production of content for offline engagement and outreach activities and events
  • Develop, build and manage partnerships with key outreach partners across target countries in line with outreach strategy objectives 
  • IMPACT: In coordination with Monitoring & Evaluation team. leadmonitoring, data collection and evaluations and reporting in relation to outreach activities and ensure these are in line with the outreach strategy and program theory of change and monitoring & evaluation framework
  • Leveraging Funding and Building Partnerships: Support the DP in actively identifying, cultivating and soliciting prospective partners

 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience particularly in program management, outreach delivery and execution and preferably within the women / gender space and digital media space
  • Undergraduate university degree required, preferably in a relevant discipline (e.g. social sciences, gender studies, etc.).
  • Proven track record of working closely with and in teams 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Expertise in operational program management and experience in managing
  • Innovative and creative leadership skills that allow for testing, failure and institutional learning
  • Commercial and financial acumen to manage program budget
  • Good communication skills
