Research Associate
The successful candidate will be required to start immediately.

There will inevitably be changes in the emphasis of duties as the research project progresses from the planning to the implementation phases. It is expected that the hired person recognises this and adopts a flexible approach to work and be willing to adapt to changes accordingly.
The post is part of a RCUK funded project “RESEARCH FOR HEALTH IN CONFLICT (R4HC-MENA)”. The project will be carried out in collaboration with King’s College London (KCL) in addition to local, regional, and international partners namely Cambridge University, Imperial College London, King Hussein Cancer Center, Birzeit University, and Hacettepe University. The overall purpose of the job is to strengthen research capability in conflict-affected areas focusing on the concept of political economy of health, by conducting needs assessments that will inform the development of the concept and joint capacity building initiatives that bridge academic, NGO and government sectors; and to build partnerships to achieve assigned goals and long term sustainability of the workstream in both Lebanon, UK, and the MENA region.
The researcher will work closely together with the Co-Investigators (Co-Is), the research fellows, and the Project Manager to meet the project objectives, that will entail:
- Designing and carrying out the research plans discussed with the Co-Is and Research Manager, including the execution of existing deliverables and the planning, data collection, analysis, interpretation and reporting of new deliverables in research, capacity strengthening, workshops, and other activities.
- Carrying out the specified research and capacity building tasks in a timely and effective manner
- Managing their own research and administrative activities
- Identifying potential problems and bringing them to the attention of the Co-Is and Research Manager for discussion
- Being able to act independently to take forward assigned projects
- Being responsible for providing research data and results upon request
- Assisting in ensuring the overall requirements of the research project are met
- Contributing to manuscript writing for publication and dissemination of results
- Supporting the Research and Grant Managers in financial and deliverables reporting and documentation
- Preparing and presenting work progress in Executive Board meetings held in Beirut, the UK, and the region
