Background

 

The “Lebanese Democratic Women’s Gathering” (RDFL) is a secular non-governmental women’s organization that was established in 1976. The Gathering woks with democratic forces to achieve full equality between both sexes.

The Gathering’s scope of work falls within the framework of the international pacts and treaties, as well as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Universal Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women.

The main objectives of the Gathering are:

  • Equality between women and men
  • Lifting all reservations on the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women
  • Implementing all clauses of the International Convention to ensure gender equality in family codes, citizenship code, penal code, labor and social security codes
  • Involving women in decision-making within the family, at work and in politics
  • Protecting and promoting the culture of women’s rights as part of the human rights
  • Eliminating violence against women
  • Networking and coordinating with women and civil society forces to enhance democracy and equality

Lebanese Democratic Women Gathering is a member of a consortium composed of Euromed Feminist Initiative, Care International in Lebanon, and Legal Action Worldwide which is currently implementing the project “Strengthening access to protection, participation and services for women refugees, IDPs and host communities” in Lebanon. The objectives are to enhance security and resilience for Syrian women refugees and women from host communities through supporting and coordinating comprehensive and structured services and referral mechanisms, as well as to support national institutions in their work towards more gender sensitive policy frameworks and legislation. The activities of the project are implemented in 4 regions of Lebanon: Beirut, Mount Lebanon, North Lebanon and Bekaa. The duration of the project is from 2018 to2020

 

Context

 

 The case worker in “Strengthening access to protection, participation and services for women refugees, IDPs and host communities” project will be recruited based on an open competitive process. The purpose of this post is to provide day to day management of prevention activities and other related activities under the supervision of the project coordinator.

The case worker will undertake all SGBV prevention and response related activities that may include among others; training, awareness raising and GBV case management etc. The case worker will work and liaise closely with GBV supervisor and project coordinator.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure cases harmed or at risk of being harmed are identified and receive individual case management support by conducting documentation, assessments, action plans, direct service provision, referrals and follow ups for an assigned case load.
  • Make recommendations to ensure spaces are made safe and appropriate for case management
  • Be available to provide basic emotional support for urgent cases.
  • Conduct psychosocial assessment of vulnerable cases, including environmental, emotional, behavioral, and social factors as well as resources and strengths that impact the individual well-being.
  • Ensure the preparation of accurate case plans for high-risk cases identified with clear outcomes and time-frame.
  • Monitor and follow up the outcome of the assistance provided.
  • Conduct awareness sessions on GBV and SRHR in coordination with the project coordinator
  • In collaboration with the Supervisor, coordinator and caseworkers, ensure coordination with other service providers in the area of intervention for prompt referral, follow up and information sharing.
  • Advocate with different institutions and services providers to help beneficiaries to access needed resources and services.
  • Manage, fill, archive specific forms for cases profiling, referral and monthly reporting ensuring confidentiality, accuracy and timeliness.
  • Collect accurate and confidential data on GBV service provision using the GBV Information Management System
  • Participate in management of the hotline.
  • Act at all times according to guiding principles of GBV case management including: a survivor centered approach, ensuring confidentiality, prioritization according to safety concerns, anti-discriminatory practice.
  • Ensure accountability respecting professional boundaries and avoiding conflicts of interest.
  • Be available to participate in meetings and training in and outside the center including case management meetings, case conference meetings or any other meetings when required.
  • Communicate regularly with the coordinator and GBV supervisor for updates on achievements and challenges.
  • Communicate and coordinate with the legal committee and psychologist at RDFL.
  •  Accomplish any other assignments allocated by line managers. 

 

Reporting

  • Compile all casework related documents in a thematic manner as required by RDFL.
  • Report to M&E coordinator monthly on GBVIMS.
  • Assist the coordinator in writing reports to the project manager.

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • A University degree in social sciences, guidance and counselling or relevant fields.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with vulnerable communities
  • Professional training in Gender based violence.
  • Experience in protection interventions in line with Refugees operation
  • Experience with Non‐Governmental organizations.
  • Good knowledge of English (written and spoken) and Arabic
  • Good communication skills and ability to conduct training and awareness
  • Computer skills.
  • Good self-organization and basic management skills.
