Backgroud

The “Lebanese Democratic Women’s Gathering” (RDFL) is a secular non-governmental women’s organization that was established in 1976. The Gathering works with democratic forces to achieve full equality between both sexes.

The Gathering’s scope of work falls within the framework of the international pacts and treaties, as well as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Universal Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women.

The main objectives of the Gathering are:

- Equality between women and men

- Lifting all reservations on the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women

-  Implementing all clauses of the International Convention to ensure gender equality in family codes, citizenship code, penal code, labor and social security codes

- Involving women in decision-making within the family, at work and in politics

-  Protecting and promoting the culture of women’s rights as part of the human rights

-  Eliminating violence against women

-  Networking and coordinating with women and civil society forces to enhance democracy and equality

The Lebanese  Women Democratic Gathering is a member of a consortium composed of Euromed Feminist Initiative, Care International in Lebanon, and Legal Action Worldwide which is currently implementing the project “Strengthening access to protection, participation and services for women refugees, IDPs and host communities” in Lebanon. The objectives are to enhance security and resilience for Syrian women refugees and women from host communities through supporting and coordinating comprehensive and structured services and referral mechanisms, as well as to support national institutions in their work towards more gender sensitive policy frameworks and legislation.

The activities of the project are implemented in 4 regions of Lebanon: Beirut, Mount Lebanon, North Lebanon and Bekaa. The duration of the project is from 2018 to 2020

Context

 The psychologist in “Strengthening access to protection, participation and services for women refugees, IDPs and host communities” project will be recruited based on an open competitive process. The psychologist will be present in RDFL’s center to provide psychosocial and psychological support to GBV and SGBV survivors. The psychologist will work and liaise closely with GBV supervisor and project coordinator.

Starting Date: As soon as possible – October 2019

Duties and Responsibilities

General duties and responsibilities:

  • The Psychologist will provide Psychological Support to most critical identified cases by the Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) case workers promoting an integrative and holistic survivor centered approach.

  • Assist the SGBV/ GBV case workers in the detection of most vulnerable cases.

  • Provide a structured clinical assessments and clear case formulation, a consistent and acceptable treatment plan with clear objectives

  • Identify cases requiring psychiatric mental health services and refer to the appropriate actors. Coordinate with these service providers to adapt the therapeutic plan of the client accordingly

  • Be available to participate in meetings and trainings at RDFL centers or other 

  • Participate to case management meetings at RDFL centers

  • Meets with other project staff when required.

  • Assist the team in GBV awareness sessions

Reporting

  • Compile all casework related documents in a thematic manner as required by RDFL.

  • Report to M&E coordinator monthly.

  • Assist the coordinator in writing reports to the project manager.

 

Qualifications

- A University degree in psychology (specialized in psychotherapy)

- 2 to 5 years work experience in the NGO sector
- Strong organizational skills;
- Strong interpersonal skill and communication skills;
- Knowledge of English;
- Good computer skills (word, excel…)
