INTERSOS is a non-profit humanitarian aid organisation that works to bring assistance to people in danger, victims of natural disasters and armed conflicts. Established in 1992 with support from the Italian Federation of Trade Unions, its actions are based on the values of solidarity, justice, human dignity, equal rights and opportunities for all people and respect for diversity and coexistence, paying particular attention to the most vulnerable and the unprotected.

INTERSOS identifies with the core values of CONCORD, the European Confederation of NGOs; it adheres to international codes of conduct for humanitarian organisations and the values and principles expressed within those codes. INTERSOS is recognised by the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the European Commission and the principal UN agencies; it is privileged to hold an advisory status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
INTERSOS is an independent association which, through its own humanitarian operators, intervenes to effectively answer the needs of people in serious crises situations, mainly in the world's poorest regions, who are suffering, deprived of rights, dignity and essentials goods. It maintains a flexible operating structure. The head office in Italy coordinates, supports and monitors the planned activities in the countries of intervention carried out by decentralised offices.

 

Job purpose:

The Facilitator reports to Senior Social Worker (SSW), who in turn, coordinates with the relevant partner organization(s) on the provision of administrative support in General overview of Protection Officer Community Services in order to carry out the following:

 

Roles:

 

Establish a link between INTERSOS and the refugee community and coordinate between them.

Report to SSW high risk cases that are in need of urgent support or assistance.

Identify refugees with specific needs, provide them with necessary support and refer them to the existing services.

Deliver information from INTERSOS to the community about the existing programs, activities, and services according to the directives and principles of the agency (shaped as info sessions).

Proactively support INTERSOS in the Community Services Programme, supporting in the designing, implementation and development of the Community Services related activities, linked with Community Development Centers and in line with the Community Based Approach Strategy

 

General Duties:

 

Ensure a safe and child-friendly atmosphere within the center

Be available to participate in meetings and trainings in and outside the centers

Pledge to work with the refugees with respect and dignity and act responsibly.

Behave properly and positively with refugees and respect the norms of International law.

Treat refugees equally without discrimination in accordance with the principles and standards of INTERSOS (Act according to the CPiE Minimum standards).

Demonstrate readiness to carry out the tasks required to help others unconditionally.

Work comfortably with the all target groups.

Support the SSW in the planning, elaboration and designing of the activities for all beneficiaries (informal skill trainings, awareness sessions, focus group discussion, PSS sessions, social – recreational activities, life skills, vocational trainings, community days and community events, outreach activities and informal education activities) under the general supervision of the Protection Officer for Community Services and accordingly to INTERSOS guidelines

Coordinate with the SSW for new updates and information to be fully capable of spreading correct information at info desk services. Ensure the mandatory presence/cover the absences of colleagues at the info desk

Flexible to accompany the SSW to INTERSOS CDCs catchments areas, CFS, collective shelter.

Facilitate and encourage the participation of the Refugee community, notably the most vulnerable, ensuring proper attention is paid to any specific emotional and physical needs / difficulties.

Abide to the code of conduct (Act according to the guiding principles of GBV and Child Protection case management including: survivor centered approach, respect of confidentiality, prioritize according to safety concerns, ‘do not harm’, ensure a non-discriminatory approach, act according to the best interest of the beneficiary, ensure accountability, respect professional boundaries and avoid conflict of interest).

Ensure ability to work inside and outside the CDCs (mobilization and outreach work)

Effective participation in the CDCs events (provide ideas and suggestions for the preparation of proposals and during implementation of those activities)

Work regularly for the better shaping to the CDC

Work closely with the SSW to establish schedule of activities, and be available  to support with reporting (daily narrative, pre/post report, daily reporting, etc…)

Ensure providing a positive image of INTERSOS while communicating with external actors (especially who are present at the CDCs, and refer to SSWs for any decisions to this related matter)

Follow instructions of SSW in regards to materials consumption, refreshments consumption, and others; Support the SSW in checking the CDC assets and equipment and report any damage immediately to the SSW; maintain the safety and good care of INTERSOS assets;

Act as a replacement of the SSW during Annual leaves, meetings, etc…

Accomplish any other assignments given by supervisors or the PM

 

Specific Duties:

Recording on beneficiaries attending/entering the CDC – Reporting

Responsible of Learning activities ( English, Arabic)

Facilitation of the IT sessions

Facilitation of Social recreational sessions

Facilitation of Awareness sessions

Follow up the monthly monitoring sheet (absences and participations of beneficiaries)

Communication with beneficiaries for the new cycles

Monitor the library and internet usage in the CDCs

 

Competencies: (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

 

Professional Competencies:

Proven previous experience as Teacher / Animator / Facilitator or any equivalent

MS. Proficiency (Word, Excel, PPT)

Analytical and Reporting skills
